There are people who want to see ploot implemented. But, I haven’t seen how they would balance it.
Considering there is the option to play by yourself, split mf, p8 death ball, carrying 7 leechers etc. It doesn’t seem like an easy thing to just bring in.
David Brevik hasn’t mattered since WC3, I dont know why Im supposed to care about what he wants. Im just wondering if you are capable of articulating your justification for it, or if all the plooters are just parrots that want to be able to tell people they played diablo 2 for 20 years like the cool kids.
P.S. You dismissing these reasons does not mean that they do not exist nor that no one articulated some ressons, because I literally am quoting what I posted earlier in the thread
There isn’t and never has been a valid reason to disallow a ploot option. All it would do is enhance the game for those who would enjoy such a system. And it would not affect anybody who did not want to take part.
7 Nova sorcs cancelling each other’s nova attacks (read up on next hit delay) and then 8 players waiting 10 seconds for 1 Diablo spawn per game. What are your average times, like 1 minute 20 seconds per end to end between each game creation?
And let me also point out: 8 friends playing and 8 randoms playing is a fundamentally different experience. The latter you have leechers or certain players getting more drops because of positioning advantage.
With 8 friends playing you have coordination and then ample opportunity to swap gear with each other which is something you don’t get in random games. Stop thinking only about yourself.
I’m more interested in these people’s justifications for NOT having ploot in the game.
This guy above says he plays with friends all the time. Perhaps he is only against ploot because he wants to preserve what he thinks is an advantage for him?
Not my fault you dont play the game correctly. Doesn’t really matter anyways, updated 2.5 patch notes with TC changes in terrorized zones is about to destroy any sort of economy outside of gg rares anyways. Better get some FG while you can, meta rares cost hundreds of thousands of FG that you got decided to ride your high horse on XD
It ruins the fun more when one does not get the dropped items since you are
Affected Negatively by Differential Ping
Ranged vs. Melee
Value integrity and fairness
Actually attacking versus repositioning to get a drop
Playing on PC where someone is using a controller
Playing with loot filter cheat
Playing with a pickit cheat
Playing with an auto-clicker cheat
Not a ninja looter
Not the leecher that takes all the good drops
In D3, players do not have these issues.
Add an optional loot allocation system at game creation.
If you like the status quo, pick FFA games. If you like the alternative, pick the alternative.
Win for you, win for others
In fact, I wonder how many that are adamantly opposed to instanced loot are cheaters who know that FFA means disproportiomately more good drops for them where the effectiveness of their cheating would be ruined by instanced loot.
i am once again against personal loot, but i would now be “ok” with “timed” 2-3 second loot. depending on how grouped players end up stayinh in terror zones… and i think timed loot should ALWAYS be a thing on act bosses.
but it should ALWAYS at least be timed.
and it should not have the possibility to be allocated to anyone not in exp range
do hork barbs share their loot or does everyone only run hork barbs?
can i leech and contribute nothign and claim 1/8th of the items for free?
whats the range, everyone within 2 screens gets a share? you better be sure youre looking for that loot and hounding each other if its timed for 2-3 seconds otherwise the drop that meant specifically for you is gone too, so you’re statistically getting less drops.
ah yes, make everyoen stand next to an item for 2-3 seconds if someone doesnt want it and then proceed to ping war anyway. way to really make runs feel fun. now you HAVE to compete with people, rather than getting lucky that you were closer.
its not any better of a system than we have now. i’d argue ploot is fundamentally worse than ping war loot. ping war loot, theres a grace period where nobody can pick up an item, so even people who live in the swamps have a chance to click on the item before its removed from the screen. unironically, i believe personal loot further encourages people to not play with each other. theres no benefit to group play aside from the fact that slow people can get their free dibs on an item. the people that did get the items from the ping war are no longer inclined to play with other people, and the people who didnt get the items to ping war arent just gonna magically be gungho for sharing 1/8th of the potential loot. the bottom line is, playing by yourself = more loot
This is true even of the current system. I did some Terrorized Cows recently for an hour in a group, and managed to grab 2 small charms, neither of which rolled decent. Really, nothing of importance even dropped in that hour, besides a Guardian Angel, which was gone in an instant. Multiplayer doesn’t currently scream “Play me!” insteand it’s mostly “Avoid me unless leveling to Hell ready status/”
Even if the devs instanced loot fully, meaning that every player got their own loot rolls vs monsters, it really wouldn’t change much as long as they ensured the same drop rate that solo full gamer players were getting. If 8 players were doing split MF runs in the same game, vs 100 monsters and 100 drops happened, that is 800 drops total which all players techinically have acess to. With instanced, if 8 players are actually playing together getting their own drops, that is still 800 items with 100 monsters, but each player is only able to see their own 100 drops.
