Immolation arrow changes moving in a weird direction

I think everyone welcomes the buffs to the Amazon fire skill tree and especially immolation arrow. However, removing the casting delay on immolation arrow is in my opinion taking the skill in a weird direction towards being too similar to exploding arrow, rather than preserving immolation arrow’s unique identity as its own skill.

Currently exploding arrow is used for the primary AOE fire damage skill with immolation arrow periodically fired to give some extra damage.

The problem with immolation arrow is NOT that immolation arrow has a casting delay on it, but the pay off for juggling between exploding arrow and immolation arrow with the casting delays is very marginal.

If you think of:

  • fireball and meteor, or
  • ice blast/glacial spike and blizzard

you will know that those secondary skills pack quite a punch. The same can’t be said for immolation arrow in the exploding arrow and immolation arrow pair of skills.

So, rather than decreasing the casting delay for immolation arrow, the following should be changed instead:

  • Further increase the exploding damage
  • Significantly increase the burning damage
  • Increase the area of effect radius OR let the arrow leave a trail of fire instead of a spot fire

This allows immolation arrow to be paired more nicely with exploding arrow, and even allow pairing of freezing arrow with immolation arrow… rather than saying “use freezing arrow or use immolation for cold immunes only”.

The casting delay was not removed however.

They need to buff the elemental arrows in general (and remove this silly buff to the physical side, or at least reduce it greatly).

I LOVE Freezing Arrow; it’s my favorite amazon skill, but it’s underwhelming to say the least. I suggest increasing the freeze duration and reducing the absurd mana cost it has. Also, buffing its damage wouldn’t hurt a bit.

Haven’t used this one extensively yet, but it looks like the mana cost is being reduced in 2.4, that should help. For freeze duration, do you have many cold damage charms and any points into ice arrow?

Even with investment the cold length is really low in Hell since monsters have a reduction to cold length there.

2 Seconds from the skill itself is low, and even maxed Ice Arrow doesn’t really change that.

Charms, unfortunately, don’t effect Freezing Arrow’s freeze duration, because at best charms can only add chill length.

I always thought it did, that sucks if it doesn’t since there’s really no other viable way to boost this with items, I’ll test this one to be sure.

They add a different cold mechanic entirely, so I’m pretty sure they don’t. This skill needs more love.

Similar thread posted here, I hope blizzard is noticing.

I’ll try test this later today or early tomorrow.

Would love to see these changes to immolation arrow and a general buff to elemental arrows.

I always wanted immolation to pull a line of fire like fire wall, (in the direction you shoot) but thicker.

As someone that does use FA I can tell you there is no noticeable freeze length with more charms. Freeze in hell is about 1/2 second using 4 cold charms seen no difference, it does add chill time. If your bow is fast enough you can keep mobs in freeze mode just barely.

I just tried testing this now with 16x hibernal small charms of winter. It does actually work, but you need about 4 small charms or so to extend the freeze duration by about 1 second.

In my opinion they need even to remove the cast delay, is still too much large

Exploding arrow works like that; just use that skill if that’s what you want.

I prefer a circle. More practical in application. Make it diferent from firewall too. Now it just looks like a shorter firewall.

I think he meant it as like how blaze currently works except where it leaves a trail behind the arrow.

Yes, but an even thicker line.

Not a bad idea. make positioning matters.

Guys I’ll edit in the suggestion, I love it!
