First of all. It’s actually very strong. Mixed magezon is super strong right now. With medium cost gear I just cleared p8 chaos without much effort!
But I don’t like the 0.6 cooldown.
I get it that the cooldown is awkward to play. The 1 second is just an odd time frame where you kinda can cast a different arrow but it’s pretty awkward and not rewarding.
But I think reducing the cooldown makes the skill way too similar to exploding arrow.
There’s another part of the Immolation Arrow differentiates it from Exploding - the area damage over time. It was buffed by 100% in PTR 1, which changed it from “unnoticable” to “insignificant”.
You can now stack 6 of them under under an act boss, and the damage over time doesn’t feel like it has a significant effect.
I really like to have a distinction between exploding and immolation arrow.
So how about this.
Make the cooldown HIGHER, not LOWER. Make it 3 seconds, so i can comfortably cast some other arrows during the time.
Increase the base damage over time 4x (compared to PTR), synergy from exploding arrow 3x, and change synergy from fire arrow to ALSO increase damage over time (by the same amount as the fire arrow).
Yes, this will increase the damage over time 36 times. However
It will only be so with 60 skill points investment
You will only be able to stack 2 of them for 1 second of the duration only.
Compared to current 6 stacks, it’s only a 11 times increase (36/6 * 5/4 where 5/4 is the suggested stacking coefficient), and you lose most of the “impact” damage which is currently dominating (which should be on Exploding arrow!)
Yeah I like this change… Characters should have interesting skill rotations that reward skilled players for optimising their efficiency…
A blizz sorc that can shoot frozen bolts 100% efficiently between blizz casts is hgoing to do more damage and clear faster that a n00b who created a blizz sorc yesterday and does not understand the rotation… Skill rotations in D2R are good for the game
