Nickie, its soo good to hear from you again, I have not seen you since the old b.net forums
Haha you too Shawmeck. It’s crazy how much changed since then. Good to see you posting here too I’m curious how this game turns out for ladder.
You and MicroRNA are my top two most venerable posters Overall I am liking the changes, yet I feel for the most part they are a bit lackluster. So happy to see poster with sensible thoughts and ideas
The server browser is working exactly per all of your requests… There are over 500 posts here and more than that in the original D2 forums about Desync on the servers… MOST of that was caused by you playing with someone 4,000 miles away. Now you cant do that… Desync has never been better… THE PROBLEM IS… you bought a game that was nearly abandoned and expected it to be full all the time. This isnt the newest 4x 1st person shooter… it will not be flooded with squeekers looking for a thrill. You are playing the game your dad played… or you are the dad trying to relive his past. Welcome to reality.
Channels have no meaning too… lobby suxx like hell
But if they fix it, what will you have to complain about? You’ll actually have to PLAY the game, oh my gosh!
Seriously though, popping 200 of the same thread really doesn’t do anything. The only person that really is required to read the forums is the community manager, and I’m sure they are busy with other communities and other work so they probably spend very little time on it.
Post your feedback in the Bug Report forum where QA actually does pay attention and has a better shot at getting Development to listen then 200 threads on the general forums. QA actually mines and monitors those forums pretty regularly (I know I’ve had to do that in my previous jobs) for issues (new and existing trends) and supply a list to dev to help prioritize things to get fixed.
This was never going to be an issue. It might have been back in the day, but the internet speeds have improved over 9000 times faster. We have gigabit internet speeds now. Back then, you had dial up, or maybe if you were lucky DSL (which was 300 Kbps when it first came out).
Also, this isn’t working as intended. Me not being able to play with other people is 100% not their intention. They’ve been very specific that they want this to be a social game, with their responses regarding stuff like Personal Loot.
I think there are too many games showing, sometimes I’ll log in and there’s like 20-30 games in Hell, 10 in nightmare, and 20-30 in normal and it’s like, that’s way too many games to choose from! Especially since half of them are dead/afk/hours old anyway. So I really think we need to reduce the amount of games shown. That way there can be only a very few games, and we have more limited choices and options to play with other players, which is definitely what we want. In fact, if we can make it so that zero games show up for online play, that’s even better, I am playing D2 online to play solo anyway, of course.
Its a dead game that everyone left because it became clear it was just a lazy cash grab.
go play diablo 2 non Resurrected, its a graveyard too… people came here expecting a reunion but, they never learned that you cant go back.
Except it could/would be a reunion if they had put in even a bare minimum amount of effort into their “global servers” that they immediately went away from because of “unexpected player behavior” or whatever, lol. Most of us here really underestimate the damage that was caused to D2R in those first two months…that’s the worst/saddest part about all this, to me anyway. Always reminds me of Miyamoto’s quote, “A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad .” Now of course it’s a bit different, we will get patches and stuff, maybe they’ll eventually fix the servers completely and provide us someday with what we were promised and expecting. But it’s already so far too late to make the impact the game should have made. Because they released it too early. Because cash grab. Because shareholders. Because Activision. So yeah…we could have gone back…unfortunately we never really even got a fair chance.

that is what was promised and you got all of that…
Even if it was not an explicit promise, it was certainly implicit or an implied one, don’t be daft.
I hear ya, Red.
What most people aren’t grasping is that: “You shouldn’t have to go through extraordinary lengths to form some kind of scheduled clique of players to be able to play multiplayer.”
There are hundreds of thousands of people playing this game around just America alone. There is no reason why these players are isolated from each other in the new version of Diablo 2, when the 20+ year old version of Diablo 2 allowed everyone to see each other all of the time in game lists.
You’d think the new version would be an upgrade, but somehow it’s a downgrade socially.
Very well said. It’s all true.
The lack of in-game social/community aspects surely turned any new players away from the game. In the original game, just seeing active channels, games, people trading, etc, radiated a positive energy and motived people to do the same. Imagine being a new player and all you see is 10 hour old trade games, cow games, quest games. Why would you stay for that?
Also I don’t really understand why there is a lack of in-game community support for this game. Riot Games for example is starting to double down on this. Even PD2 innovated a little and when you kill their Season 4 boss Rathma, a message is displayed to the server: “XYZ Is the 1st Amazon to solo kill Rathma on Hardcore”. Those kinds of things add to the community experience. Riot Games only started doing this as well.
A lack of general interest around a 20 year old game concept kept the community away.
The community was there for months after launch, and we are still here, we are just waiting for ladder, as even in gaming, you have to have something to work towards or achieve.
As for the 20 yr old concept, hack n slash, it’s actually much older than that and it won’t change for a long time because people love RPG hack n slash, particularly with no in-app purchases.
We got number 10? not working private channels, bad chat and broken lobby isn’t exactly an “improved battle.net” We had those features in old bnet
also 13&14 isn’t in pre-expansion, even though we get 2.4 now lol
Battlenet was never the channels, battlenet was working anti hack and the ability to play online…with other players… your inability to connect to other players because your pingy as a politician isnt blizzards problem.
