End the Greifing and make PVP a mutual agreement

Griefer - Wikipedia

Griefing is fine. You know how many hours I’ve been camped in WoW? You’ll be okay big guy.

By the way, your article says that griefing is performed in “game-breaking” ways. Toggling on PvP and camping a body is well within the rules of the game. I remember that one time the skeleton archer griefed me in the Sewers Act 2 HC Nightmare right after an SOJ dropped. That sucked, but I didn’t think skeletons should be removed because they killed me with a dope item.

We all know that: despawn projectiles and hydra on hostile press.

To qualify as griefing, a player must be using aspects of the game in unintended ways to annoy other players

It’s pretty clear the hostility system was created intentionally, so that players could hunt each other, just as they did in Diablo.

These talk about way more than that.

I’m not particularly interested in your feelings or the feelings of your articles.

I’m very happy to play in the wikipedia definition… I don’t need an article full of people crying that they’re not very good at games and they should change the game because they die sometimes.

The Wikipedia article confirms that it needs to be an unintended usage of a system… which a PvP toggle certainly isn’t. If it was, they would have made PVP areanas and zones to fight people in in Diablo 2.

From wikipedia

  • Intentional friendly fire or deliberately performing actions detrimental to other team members’ game performance.
    • Wasting or destroying key game elements
    • Colluding with opponents
    • Trapping teammates in inescapable locations by using physics props, special abilities, or teleportation
  • Causing a player disproportionate loss or reversing their progress.
    • Destroying or vandalizing other players’ creations without permission in [sandbox]
  • Camping at a corpse or spawn area to repeatedly kill players as they respawn (when players have no method of recourse to prevent getting killed), preventing them from being able to play. Camping can also refer to continuously waiting in a tactically advantageous position for others to come to them; this is sometimes considered griefing because if all players do it, the game stalls, but this is now more commonly considered a game design issue.
  • Luring many monsters or a single larger monster to chase the griefer, before moving to where other players are. The line of monsters in pursuit looks like a train, and hence this is sometimes called “training” or “aggroing”.[6]
  • Blocking other players so they cannot move to or from a particular area, or access an in-game resource (such as a non-player character); the game Tom Clancy’s The Division was found to have a serious problem with this at launch, where griefers could stand in the doorway out of the starting area, trapping players in the spawn room.[7]

No, we want the option for PvM only in public games.

Just stop man. This is embarrassing, and your argument sucks… And its based off the way YOU want the game to play… Not how the game has played for 20 years. Again, you’ve had 20 years to realize you don’t like this game. Why are you playing this game?

As I said before, I was a day 1 player and am playing this ladder. The simple facts remain that there are game systems that can be improved in D2R.

I like the fact there is a shared stash, do you? I have no desire to do muling when there are modernizations that can improve D2R.

If you want to play with 20 year old systems, then you can play like I have been in D2/D2:LoD.

I didn’t mind transferring items over the in corners of Act 1 and I’m going to miss trying to steal items from people mulling if I’m being honest.

Shared stash doesn’t directly affect my interaction with you. That’s a much more personal/private change.

And then you say

I am a D2 vet. You are not in my passwrd-protected permed game if I am dropping anything on the ground.

Yeah, sometimes I didn’t have friends on to transfer items and I’d do the risky public transfer. I know bro you’re so experience on Diablo. You’ve mentioned it a bunch of times man. We’re all proud!

But yes, I used to check the corners of the cities for items bro. Sue me. I was like 12.

I don’t risk this in public games.

There is a certain irony.

Edits preferences and done.

You don’t what? You would hope with age you’d become a little less me-me-me and little more… you know… mature.

Where’s the irony? Do you know what irony is?

You’re the one that wants changes that surround you. Again, don’t like the rules. Go play PoE.

Just like I said before what you want is Single Player game masked as Multi Player. Every change you want is limiting human interaction. It seems like you have problem with people not the game itself.

The mutual agreement happens the very moment you decide to either join a game with other people, or to not password protect your own game.

If you see someone joining your game and going hostile on you as an annoyance and not a challenge, I would recommend to organize private runs.

Those are usually much more efficient anyways

No. I would like to decrease the odds of having negative human interactions such as griefing where the anonymity of the internet allows people to do what they would never do in real life.

You keep saying that is the way HE wants to play the game. But you are doing the same, stating a way YOU want to play the game.

We all the play the game in different ways.

Do you like to go and do MF runs for hours on end solo, or in a closed group of people? No? Then maybe you shouldn’t play the game. You could argue the same thing since magic find is in the game that it was intended and is a part of the game. Why are you playing a game where one of the main stats, magic find, is not being utilized by you while PvP’ing?
