End the Greifing and make PVP a mutual agreement

Oh, that’s a good point.

Yeah that should probably be changed if it has not already.

I can get behind this. It’s why I don’t usually support PvP servers because it brings out some of the most unpleasant people I’ve ever encountered. (Not stating that this applies to nearly all those that PvP, just the bad apples).

Sorry, but PvP is part of it. Maybe just learn how to defend against it, instead of whining before even trying to fight back lol.

People think, they have to be safe against better players, or that they have to “be good” at something from the get go. Just try, practice a bit and get guud, guys. Otherwise you only deserve to TP out. (:

That’s coming from a total PvP noob btw. I will be slaughtered aswell after release and probably will take quite some TP quits.

There are quite some crybabies out there. I can understand, that being killed while farming is annoying. But I just joined a tomb run to have some fair PvP against lvl 30s and as soon as I only hostiled the 7 players party, some started to call me bad things lol.

I mean, at least try before complaining. I had some good duels there and one player kicked my a** for attacking them. What’s so bad about it? You also don’t quit and whine in the forums, when mephisto or Nihlathak one shot you, do you?

Do you honestly think that D2 vets do not already have experience with other players griefing? Do I think that it will be better now? Maybe? Maybe not? Certainly, there are elements of gaming communities that can be quite toxic.

See thats the issue - you believe it is negative human interaction only. It is not only negative. I am long time L2 player, I once spend entire day killing and getting killed by another player in fight for spot. We have been teaming up ever since having hysteric laugh about that day. This is kind of camaraderie you trying to deny people.

No. I am a realist. The majority of players will be good. The problem is if 1% or 5% are not, it creates issues for the rest unless systems are established to mitigate their negative effects.

As a realist you would realise that meeting a friends in online game comes at a price (and in D2 SC this price is irrelevant really) in this case price is encountering a griefer.
And limiting options of 99%, or 95% (your numbers) of players because of really small minority - does it really looks fair to you??

If they quit → good.

I would compare this to WoWs Open World PvP. During Classic and TBC it worked well, as soon as Blizzard tried to make it more convenient, instead of just resolving simple issues like server balance, it was dead.

So if people who dislike it and don’t want to make private games quit this game this is the absolute correct thing. Not everything has to suite everybodys needs, it’s good if there are a few games out there which are different.

No. That’s stupid. It’s a core mechanic of the game. Why is everyone so weak these days?
“I want to agree for when someone is hostile to me.”
“I want my own personal loot drops.”

Soon you will be saying:
“Hell mode is too difficult, make it easier.”
“Hardcore is too difficult, don’t make death permanent.”
“The game is too dark, make it brighter.”
“Make uniques and sets drop more frequently - at least 20 per boss kill.”
“The game needs cartoony graphics.”
“Let’s get rid of PVP all together.”
“Someone said something I don’t like, put censor filters on.”
“Censor filters aren’t working, don’t let people talk.”
“Make the game play automatically for me.”
“Hold me.”
“Feed me.”

Just stop. Play the game. Toughen up. If you don’t like strangers PvPing, create a private game with friends. Don’t have friends? Make some. Make friends with the others who are getting hostiled and are fed up with it too.

Personally, i’d prefer if everyone who entered the game started off hostile and invisible in the game player list, the bosses and mobs were more difficult, and there would only be hardcore mode. Being a gamer used to mean you like a challenge but now we’re in the Candycrush era of flashing colors, bright lights, limited thought, and endless reward. Sorry if i’m a little forward with this, i’m just tired of everything being watered down.

What percent of those 99%-95% percent want to go hostile and its frequency in the first place and how many would want to go hostile/frequency where the other person was not a willing participant? This will not be 95-99% but a much smaller number.

Now let’s think about the effects of the callous 1%-5% on a larger proportion of the rest of the playerbase. They can each join multiple games, negatively impacting a far larger proportion of the population.

So yes it looks fair to me to have a consensual agreement for PvP.

Considering that 2 acts beta is almost done I would say that “much smaller” may be exaggeration (pure guess, but people are bored).
Also why “negatively” and “far larger” ??, just from this thread it seems that a lot more people actually enjoys it, than not.

I am not against PvP. I think that it would be better if they made it consensual to avoid griefing. You can put systems in place to protect the greater good.

Let me tell you a real story. As you know, school has started again in many areas. To date, more than 30 students in my child’s school have been identified as being Covid positive. My child who is too young to be vaccinated has been exposed to Covid by 5 different students on different days over 7 days so far. Although my school does not require masks, my child wears one. Overall, less than half of my child’s classmates wear masks. In a situation like this, does it make sense to protect all children with a mandatory mask mandate since none of them can be vaccinated yet due to their age? My point of telling you this story is to say that systems can be point in place that makes things better for the group overall.

Nope.

Be prepared for the reality. If you got ish to do. Make it a private game. Public is for the gankz.

While I am sorry about your child (hope that he/she is fine), consider please this: should the kids without mask be denied school? (please consider the fact that this is parents choice, not the child).

I’m against the change here but you know it’s false.

"Let me change my whole build and totally stop what I intended to do with this character just in case stranger#55478 comes again. As a PvE player, I will certainly defeat a PvP player whose sole purpose is to grief people. "

Yeah. They will just use a password.

We do like this game. We’re trying to adjust some of the issues.

Parent do not have the right to have their children (e.g. babies/toddlers) ride in their cars without a car seat or without seat belts in most states. Parents are not allowed to drink and drive to put themselves, their car occupants including potentially their own children, and other travelers at elevated risk of injury and/or death. As a society, we do things to protect children from their idiotic parents.

Precisely, issue is in above case it would be ultimately child who pays the price.

and potentially their classmates (fellow traveller’s in my drunk driving example).
