Diablo 2 Resurrected is a remaster and should be played and loved the same way the classic was, here's why

High runes are supposed to be rare. Drop rate of runes are more than enough currently.

One of the latest patches raised drop rate of runes a lot. They used to be a lot more rare, big time. Now its easy to find them.

I think I would be fine if they up the drop rates but only in a separated realm.

Would love a new realm with drop rate changes, new runewords, uniques, a PvP arena, new monsters, stackable items, etc.

Just not at release I want the gameplay to remain almost the same.

I wouldn’t say HRs are “easy” to find… a Zod rune only has a 1 in 5171 chance every time R17 is rolled.

But yes, they’re easier to find than before.

Ahh OK - I just reinstalled D2 last week when I purchased D2R upgrade and Im currently only in NM act 4 atm…

Btw, chance to get Zod from baal(Q):

1.12 patch - 1:2987183
1.13 patch - 1:757519

So as you can see chance used to be a lot lower actualy. before 1.13. Back then was actualy hard to find runes. Now you just need little bit of dedication and you can find runes.

Well easy was probably strong word, but I would say its common to find high runes from time to time if you know where to find. Before 1.13, highest runes was almost impossible to find even by doing thousands of runs of places where they could drop.

Yes it’s become a lot easier to find, and the drop chances you listed are only a partial reason why.

Easily farmable lvl85 areas made runes much easier to find.

Btw, fun fact what can be done. One of my friends on single player was doing item find challenge, two months, lvl 1 new character, he played barbarian and he found all uniques with exception of:

The Gnasher
Blinkbat’s Form
Crown of Ages
Bul-Kathos’ Wedding Band
Wisp Projector
The Rising Sun
Seraph’s Hymn

He found anything else , Tyraels might included, found all sets and all runes with exception of Zod

It does SAY that… but let me ask you something… regardless of what marketing text says, I employ you to use your own logic and judgement and to honestly consider what your definition of a MOD would be vs a REMASTER?

Here is my definition (which I don’t expect everyone to agree with, but that’s fine):

MOD = Modification of an existing game. Meaning the original game is still there but the MOD well MODIFIES the game to add additional features/functionality. This could be gameplay mechanics, graphics, etc… but the original game is still there.

REMASTER = Creating a brand new game from the ground up based on the older original game.

Personally, this is just a MOD. It should not be difficult to understand the difference IMO. It might be a very well done MOD, but it meets the spirit and intent of a MOD far more than it does a REMASTER.

What troubles me is that this “MOD” (call it what you want) costs either $40 or $60… which is quite expensive if you ask me. GTA V for example is being remastered from the ground up for the next-gen consoles and PC… and is going to be a FREE upgrade for those who bought the previous version.

Lets release it identical, i dont care, but then make new patches with changes to skills and others stuff and add content.

I am kind of suprised by one thing. SO many people is going crazy about slight changes in remaster, but I can guarantee you that if blizzard simply implemented new patch with several changes like stash tabs and stuff or even skill changes, nobody would be complaining

well maybe few people would be crying for a while and then they would keep playing.

as I said above, blizzard hughly improved chances to find higher runes in 1.13. Thats modification to loot!, I dont remember anyone complaining back then.

Now Imagine raging when remaster would have changed drop rates… but there is really no difference in changes in patch or changes in remaster. But for some reason people take it differently.

Well if you so badly want to play D2 instead of any other Diablo game why can’t D2R be like the original but with better graphics, small changes, and a better community? Why is that so wrong?

Why do we need to change the way D2 is played with stuff like personal loot?

Edit: I posted this too late and I realize conversing with you is pointless. I ask a question and you just dodge it and throw a question back. The answer is yes I will play D2R no matter what even if they make it exactly like D3. But that is distracting from the original argument. There is nothing wrong with making a Diablo 2 resurrected like Diablo 2. But I’m beating a dead horse at this point

You got nothing to worry bout. Personal loot and other wow d3 mechanics are NOT going to be in D2R on launch. It is going to be a great time for Diablo fans !!!

^ this

That’s why I’m against loot increase. The drop rate is already good. It just isn’t stupidly high like in other games, which is great !

The big thing you are missing is D2 economy was heavily impacted by Bots and duping, assuming those are either fixed or limited the wealth you are accustomed to wont be much wealth at all. Building a character will take much longer and cost much more, and im sorry, the vast majority of the playerbase are not human bots who want to wait years to get runeword builds online.

Then they should find some other games to play because the goal in Diablo is to grind for better items and this should be an enjoyable portion of the game, not a tedious one.

Not liking doing so does not justify cheating.

wow you really just didnt even bother to check the context of that message. nowhere in this entire thread was cheating or botting being defended. Im saying that you cant make claims about how a change will impact the economy of the remaster when getting rid of bots and dupes alone is going to greatly alter the economy as we know it.

Sorry if I read you wrong but I thought there were clear implications that a bot related economy was more favorable than a natural / unexploited one because you can obtain runewords faster.

Runewords should be hard to obtain and should require you to turn into a “Human-bot”. That’s the whole point of Diablo: Hoping for better rolls.

I dont disagree, my issue is how many players are expecting the same type of economy they experienced, and will they stick around when things are much harder than they expected. If by some miracle we do have a bot and dupe free game, we will need a very large playerbase to support a legit economy.

Even if the playerbase is bigger, the legit players increase both supply and demand. As you noted, bots increase the supply of items in the economy. Elimination of bots will reduce supply. Therefore, it will still be more difficult.
