You never risked a loss in d2. A player could only hostile in town, plenty of time to TP to a safe location for anyone at risk.
Thats really not what people are saying… They just don’t want the modern version to ruin the experience d2 gave players.
A lot of people want QoL changes, myself included. Just not the ones that would affect the game in a big way and perhaps ruin the feel the original had to offer
No, there isn’t.
I am much more interested in D2:R with a decent amount of QoL changes than I am in D4, so you could as well tell me to play CoD or Minecraft
I’ve never advocated for any player to go play the original instead of advocating in these forums for their own changes. It’s just as bad as what you said.
Bots and duping had a massive impact on what made diablo 2 what it was and is today. Your gonna sit there and pretend that a classic experience will be better when none of us have ever experienced a d2 economy as intended by developers.
Whether somebody is for changes or not there is a difference between telling somebody to play D2 and play D4.
Its not exactly like telling you to play Minecraft or CoD because D4 hasn’t come out yet and you could find every change you want in it. It’s a clean slate that everyone can give a chance but it also is a lot more likely to have the changes you want and play the way you want
Are some more entitled to a modern and changed version of Diablo 2 than a classic remastered?
I don’t understand why people cant just let it have the core game mechanics the original had with better graphics, auto gold, a bigger stash, and better frame rates.
Nobody wants the game to be ruined, but assuming it will be great as is, is a risk of its own. If blizz does a good job and crushes bots and fixes duping the game might not be what many wanted because the only d2 they knew had a much more accessable economy. This game cant be made just for the hardcore fans, they are way too few in quantity to support the game, it needs to draw in and keep a large playerbase to support the economy without bots and duping.
There’s no reason to believe someone would like D4 over D2R just because they want specific QoL changes.
This is a fallacious argument.
I highly doubt that D4 will be D2 with QoL changes
I’m not necessarily saying just that
I’m asking if it would really hurt if people let D2R be like the classic and experience the changes they are taking about in D4
What’s wrong with that? If D2R has FFA loot are you really not going to play?
I think it’s also wrong to assume that the way people played 20 years ago will necessarily be the same today in regards to bots. But that’s just my opinion
But I think it is something different than people want in diablo ploot. Diablo 3 has separated loot for every player, there is no need of distributing items amongst players. nobody will get your possible loot. You basicly have 100% of loot in diablo 3. Its fine for players but it killed trading completely.
Thats why I dont like about 3, it is so limiting, there is not much to do with that game. Modding is non existent so you cant play modes when you are fed up with vanilla. There is no trading, social interaction is virtualy nonexistent, difficulty= monsters with more hp and dmg and thats it. Pvp is also nonexistent, player killing nonexistent, no fear. Diablo 2 have it all, and thats why its so good. I have so many option to do, i can farm loot, play with friend and just have fun in battle net chat with others and discussing with them, i can pvp, I can trade which i loved…
How do you imagine it btw? Ball is killed and 6 items drops, will i see all items even when they will not be mine with ploot? I just wont be able to pick them up?
Optional change is not a replacement. Most of the forum posters who want personal loot want it as a optional selection. They are not arguing that personal loot should replace FFA loot. We want you to have a pure D2 experience. We alos want to have a modern D2 experience in parallel.
Lets go away from D2 to a simple analogy.
I like the spicy fried chicken at Popeye’s. In 2019, Popeye’s added their chicken sandwich to the menu. I had the option to still choose spicy fired chicken that I enjoy while others could choose the chicken sandwich. I do not claim that offering the chicken sandwich hurts those who like spicy fried chicken.
A second choice does not eliminate the first choice. They’re choices.
I want ploot as an option. Because FFA will alienate so many people , e.g. new players once they realise that someone is clicking faster than them, pickiting, or simply has a lower ping. It will drive them away en masse, solo MF runs will keep them for only a short while.
Also, I do not want total loot increased. Drop rates are something that can be looked at later, in a patch for instance, if needed.
Diablo 4 is nothing like d2. It is entirely new. Adding QoL stuff to d2 doesn’t make it a completely different game, especially when it’s optional. You ask would I play d2r without them, my response is would you NOT play it if they were optional?
I get all the comments made here - this game makes people have different opinions…
Im the kind of person that enjoys being in a good group and would often drop an item that I know would make someone elses game experience and build better if it did nothing for my build…
I never had any issues accumilating some wealth and getting better gear so helping others wasnt a problem. I think that might be the issue with all the new players that feel its unfair I cant get my drop - when it really wasnt your drop anyways… D3 ruined that aspect of the game Imo - sets suck - In D2 we used them to level up and progress the early game… D3 sets were the best and only option until the later couple patches arrived with ability to use the 2 rings and the one gem that allowed uniques…
I hope D2R is like D2 Lod but with the ability to FIND end game runes this time as rune words made D2 a great time - even though the majority of them traded for were NO DOUBT hacked… I found plenty of runes but there was plenty of times I traded for them and they would dissapear after completing a trade window and Bnet anti hack messures would activate…
Is this in favour of upping the drop rates for runes, if so I’m against it.
But i am pretty sure that if majority of people would keep buying chicken sandwith and only few people spicy fried chicken, they would remove it from menu and you would not be able to enjoy it
Well not dramatically - I mean Ive seen 1 Zod in 20+ years but maybe a little bump in Mal and Upward ???
