I personally like immunes and think the game would lose a part of what makes hell mode “hell” if it were removed.

Dont tell me this isnt you… Get rid of dual immunities

Seriously, learn the game, or go play a different game. Immunities have been in D2 longer than you have been errect.

This game isnt difficult you can solo hell on ANY build. Infinity does break fire and cold resist but even thats a moot point you can literally go completely naked and punch your way through hell mode it is very possible just takes and ungodly long time. Nothing needs to be done to make the game easier its too easy as is

That isn’t me. You get to pretend to be tough because of the video game you play for a whole new person.

First off, you really can’t solo hell on any build. You may be able to teleport to boss/named mobs and kill them on several builds.
Second, let’s not pretend that teleporting past all the mobs to get to the named you want to kill is “playing the game”.

I don’t have a problem with mobs having an immunity. It pushes players to spec in more than one damage type. I don’t care for dual immunities where 98 of 100 skill points spent are complete negated and you have to rely on your merc to kill for you or teleport past mobs that just aren’t worth killing. I think it’s a bad dynamic for a game like this.

whys it always a buncha zoomers trying to change a 20 year old game. dont like it go play diablo immortal LOL

The decisions were made by the development “team” that was left after the original Blizzard North development team left the company.

1.09 was the last real update by the original development team and designers…

So other than “it is a core feature of Diablo 2” (that’s an opinion not a fact, by the way) and all that “change bad because change, go play D3” talk, what do you really think about that game design?

@OP personally I am with immunes if the game had better group play (Instanced Loot), but as of right now it is very anti-social in nature (hence 95% of games are private) so rather than Immunities it would been better if they had very high elemental resistance.

personally I don’t have an issue with immunes on elite or unique packs. the problem is every single trash mob having an immunity. if they have increased resistance and take greatly reduced damage thats fine. but when you try to go somewhere and the entire zone you have to get through is completely covered in mobs immune to your only source of damage, as well as 2-3 shotting you. nobody “overcomes” this. they either have teleport and just go away or they try to run through literally nobody is sitting there letting their merc slowly kill 100 mobs.

regular mobs are extremely low value in the first place. immunities belong on unique packs that are high value.

How dare they guide you towards dual spec the way the game was meant to be played.

If you spec into one type of damage the trade off is high kill speed but limited killing.

Or slower kill speed for dual spec but you can clear the game.

They designed every hero to be able to clear all content solo.

If you choose to synergize one skill for max damage (cough* what every content creator tells you that you should do and is missing the point of the game) then that’s the downside of it

and yet another noob who wants a watered down sugar coated version of the game. keep those requests coming. me i just wish the net wouldnt keep crashing.

I made a javazon for once at ladder start since the only char I dont have yet except cold sorc. Big mistake. Stuck at ancients for 5 days. Cant do cows and cant progress except leveling at chaos i guess.

If you can only think of two builds that can farm without avoiding content… you really are new…

Every single physical build in the entire game… doesn’t have to skip a single mob while farming FYI.

Hell the only builds I can ever think of have regularly skip mobs… are Pure cold Sorc, Pure Fire sorc, and… umm…ummmmmmm… some meme stuff like Fire Trapper? Poison necro occasionally if there aren’t corpses to explode nearby.

Several ways around this.

  1. Go farm for some CB/OW and Jab them to death.
  2. Drop 4 points and grab Guided Arrow, swap to any decent bow and GG them easy.
  3. Play with others.

Monster immunities are a frustrating game mechanic. Unfortunately they are too baked into the game, including especially the class/build balance. This is undoubtedly why there are fewer physical immune mobs and basically all physical damage builds have a skill to get around it, because classes and builds that do non-physical damage tend to have big AOE spells. Anyone think that sorc’s are underpowered in this game? LOL Try removing immunities.

Lots of rebalancing would have to occur, including skill nerfs. Blizzard is probably the highest raw damage skill in the game, when maxxed out. In exchange, cold immunity is unbreakable, even with Infinity. They’d have to nerf Blizzard and cold mastery big time. And all sorts of other skills would need serious rebalancing. So in the end, you’d have no immunes but would kill everything currently not immune more slowly, in order to maintain the balance.

There’s a reason no arpg’s after D2 have immunes. Not D3, PoE or GD. And undoubtedly won’t be in D4. Because it’s annoying. But they aren’t going to do a skill rebalance which would be twice as many changes as all the changes in 2.4 in order to get rid of this mechanic. The solution, as people have said, is either get Infinity (if you’re lightning), or find zones with no immunes of that type. Cows works for everyone, as one example.

Honestly if you have enough gear Hybrid builds don’t really lose clear speed on P1 either.

You can absolutely wreck stuff still with Hybrids like Blizz Baller.

No, it’s not just him. It’s terrible design regardless of how much of a purist you may be.

My merc handles immunes just fine. Pop treachery on them with Tals Mask/ Vamp Gaze/ Thieves Crown and a decent weapon. It is not rocket surgery

Immunities are the charm of Diablo 2. Having them the way they are set makes certain builds good in some areas and awful in another areas. On top of that the core reason they exist is to promote party-play which 20 years ago was the prime focus on any multiplayer game. It’s a bit different now ( Path of Exile for example ) where everything leans towards 100% pure solo play doable for 100% of the content the game offers… Which is why I do not play games like PoE despite having depth…
I personally didn’t login to a multiplayer online game to play as in Single-player mode.

Then go play a game with a design more suited for your playing needs. Because D2 design is just fine for the rest of us
