I don’t agree. I always make my characters hybrid, with 2 sources of damage, without considering mercenary. I can solo most of the game. I’ve done this in offline as well, I’ve 3 characters lv 80+ without any respec; also farmed 3 or 4 Hellfire Torches.
If I’ve done it, anyone can.
Invest points in Static Field, Nova and Lightning Mastery. No pre requirements either basically.
I love hearing the solutions here…just run past, make another char, call in friends etc.
You do know that Diablo is a solo game as well? And the point of this game is to kill lots of monsters as fast as possible to get loot?
The immunity crap was done by like one guy. It was the easiest way to make the game more challenging when in fact it just made the game worse. The way to do it would have been to have the monsters have a 75%ish resist…this way they are harder to kill but you are not pigeon-holed into one or two builds.
The worst part is the only item in game that will break immunity only breaks lightning. If we are keeping immunities, at least have it break everything. Why are there almost no magic immunes? It is like they wanted to add a 5th element but just gave up when they found out they needed to add immunities to monsters all over the game.
it was a garbage design then, it is a garbage design now and it needs to be adjusted by making things “Highly resistant” or just have infinity break all immunes. Not sure why this is a bad idea other than messing up the D2JSP economy.
Wow You really told me…
it is you who want it easier= you want easier way to get fg… Its obv to all.
Same as the player 8 people.
I want it harder= harder to get gear and Fg
you want it easier= easier to get fg…You obv bots to. easy to se.
The game is about efficiency. Having merc killing 1/3 to 1/4 of the mobs you encounter isn’t exactly efficient.
The meta shift to runewords dictate large number of monsters killed in a 7 player game in the most efficient manner yields the greatest chances at high runes.
Not only that, ladder revolves around efficiencies in XP farming which, again, relies on kill speed. Of the top 10 on US HC Ladder, 5 are pallies, 2 lightning sorcs, 2 javazons, and a druid… A Pally hit 99. The other 9 are 98. There isn’t a single Barbarian, Assassin, or Necro that is currently above 97…
On HC, the number of characters level 96 or higher by class:
Amazon: 30 (6 dead)
Assassin: 16 (1 dead)
Barbarian: 14 (4 dead)
Druid: 11 (3 dead)
Necromancer: 8
Paladin: 73 ( 8 dead)
Sorceress: 60 (6 dead)
A total of 212 HC characters made it to 96 or above this ladder session so far. Of them, 62.7% were either Pally (34.4%) or Sorceress (28.3%)
Hell, even on SC, 16 players have reached 99. Every one of them except 1 is either a Pally(8), Sorc (5), or Zon(2). The remainder is an Assassin… Pallies still represent 50% of this pool of players.
It’s like not having to deal with immunities gives some innate advantage to the Paladin class
Its enough to finish playthrough. Every element has places to go where to rune find or MF, if you go to places where are monster simmune to your element, its your mistake and its relaly not being that smart.
So what? Every character in game or build is good at something and worse at other things. Yeah Barbarian is not good at leveling, that has nothing to do with immunities.
For example Frenzy Barb combine with zerk can destroy whole game. And will not struggle anywhere, even in places where Hammerdin would struggle.
Yeah thats only good thing, it would be boring to have all 7 characters having similar advanatges and diadvantages. Also its good different builds have different preferable places where to MF/item find.
Unless you have enigma, pretty much everywhere, it suck to play that build without enigma. Hammerdin strugle at baalruns also because of second wave. In ancient tunnels, maggot lair and some other places.
You basicly need just grief and few decent items, nothing special. Good hammerdin is far more expensive.
Yeah. There it is. Because freedom to farm everywhere takes away from your ability to farm from “preferable places”. So you can split farm in peace in mult because p8 in online takes away from the “online” aspect of the game.
It’s almost like Pallies don’t have a synergy for Blessed Hammers that provide them with mobility only second to teleport…
dual spirit pally can clear the entirety of Hell easy enough…
You cant compare vigor to teleport at all. Vigor doesnt help you when mobs blocks your way. Barbarian Leap is is far better movement skill than Vigor. Leap is closest comparable skill to teleport.
Yeah? show me your skill, stream playthrough with untwinked hammerdin build from normal to end of hell and we will see how easy it is. And how many times you will die.
Sorry i have no clue what do you mean by this. Can you explain what does that supposed to mean? I am going to sleep so I willr eact in the morning
I can and I did. A majority of the maps in a regular playthrough are open world with very few constricting paths. Running through areas with doors is relatively easy. The only zones Leap has a definitive advantage over max vigor is Maggot Layer or Frayer Dungeon. You visit these locations once per difficulty playthrough…
I play HC exclusively, you only get 1 life. I also don’t stream. My current HC ladder characters are 91 Druid, 89 Pally, 85 Barb, 85 Sorc. My 2nd sorc is currently 73.
For a fresh start, I usually start a pally as Holy Fire and shop for a +3 Holy Fire scepter before level 10. Can usually get enough gold by level 6 for a white/socketed version. This scepter carries me through NM with ease. As soon as I am able to get bases for an Insight and both Spirits (drops, not socket quest), I switch to Hammerdin with single point in Holy Shield to ease dex requirements for max block.
Once in hell, I usually spend some time farming Countess to make myself a Prudence and Treachery for the Merc. I also craft a +3-4% LL Blood helm for the merc.
Max block, max resist, + eth Prudence with at 75% FCR breakpoint will carry me through rest of hell. Upgrade merc Insight bases as opportunities present themselves. Outside of Throne Room, Magic Immune Greater Zombies only really present themselves in either Viper Temple or Tal’s Tomb and are usually just a couple at a time unless you run into a champion pack.
As for tight spaces, hammers always spawn at the same position relative to character position. The only tricky place for targeting with hammers are the Maggot layer levels and only certain twists pose a problem where you may need to lure the trash back a little to allow for hammer rotation.
Efficiency is only important if you’re trying to rank1 the ladder. Otheriwse, it really isn’t important. Besides, if you cared abotu efficiency, you’d create a build that can deal with more situations- You might kill certain things slower, but you’ll spend a lot less time trying to get past the barriers the game tries to throw at you.
It seems you are experienced and knowladable player based on what you wrote so yeah for you it might be easy. But for not experienced players it will not be.
ohh sweet kido. hammerdin is boring. try somthing of meta. and you will enjoy the game much more.
people should already not play games they dont like. its not good for the mood.
