I play Orb. Tried to like Blizzard but it’s just unfun, unresponsive gameplay.
Yes you can play with orb that doesn’t do any damage in 8 players map period.
you keep trying to tell us this, but there’s a whole world of orb players out there proving you wrong.
or they are non-sorc players, and trying to keep Frozen Orb as weak it is by pretending they use orb as Sorc. So they still can feel ice tickling massage in PvP without any concern.

Blizzard requires 100 skill points to be that good. Orb lets you play two elements with ease.

oh boy another Necro guy who wants to keep Frozen Orb to ice massage in PvP. I honestly think bone skills are the one that had to be nerfed. And ofc I play bone necro too for PvP.
People who say orb is already in a good spot are usually those people who use it as a backup skill for light or fire immunes

However as a main skill it needs some buffing like at least the synergy of ice bolt incrased to 5%

Ok, try full geared Frozen Orb build in 8 players map, and tell me if it can do even half perform of what Blizzard can do.
Blizzard was always easier to kill with at the start, once you figure out the tricks but I usually went Frozen orb/something once I had the plus to skills to make it 8p viable.
It’s a more precise skill so shouldn’t be hitting anywhere as hard as blizzard.
I used to always play frozen orb since 1.09. Only recently I switched to blizzard … and I am staying blizzard.

Its good for hybrid builds because it actually does decent damage with little investment. I also know of one pvp build where it does well because of that limited investment. And that build is getting a buff this ptr.
I don’t think Frozen Orb deserves that alternative skill position for immunities. It lost all its spotlight to Blizzard long time ago. Utterly ineffective in 8 players map even with full cold gears.

Meh, Frozen Orb always have been ice tickling massage in PvP even with fully invested skill points and cold gears. I think people who never play Sorceress does not want to see Frozen Orb is a viable skill in PvP.
I had a lv 87 Blizzard + Fire Ball sorceress in D2 LoD.
Now I’ve a Frozen Orb + Chain Lighnting lv 88 sorceress in D2R.
Differences (Blizzard skill may have changed with D2R, didn’t test):
Personally, for a dual elemental sorceress Frozen Orb is better.
I usually did the same 85-90 I would switch over to orb when I have the supporting items. Much smoother killing rate.
At least in d2r we can reduce the sound effects and combat effects without losing the music volume. I have mine set a little bit lower just because I find the whooshy-swish annoying too. It’s not so bad when it’s not super loud.
They added synergies. Back in the day you could max static field and blitz the entire screen down to nothing then finish off with orb or whatever you felt like lol.
