I really don’t understand why they did not buff the Frozen Orb. This is also what Dbrunski125 has mentioned.
The current Blizzard is much better in both PvM and PvP, especially if you use Frozen Orb in PvP, ppl will just laugh at you.
I really think the Frozen Orb deserves some love otherwise, all cold sorc will be Blizzard.
Only few who wants to stick to Frozen Orb will play that. But it’s gonna be much less effective than Blizzard in every single way of the game.
Frozen Orb is much more fun and engaging than Blizzard, but Blizzard outperforms Frozen Orb because of synergies.
I remember all sorcs using only frozen orb back in the day…what happened?

Blizzard North gave Blizzard 3 synergies at 5% bonus damage per level while giving Frozen Orb 1 synergy at 2% bonus damage per level.
I was hoping they’d buff the damage or reduce the cooldown. Hopefully they will after PTR feedback. Dbrunski is spot on in pretty much all of his feedback about 2.4.
Blizzard is not really that much better than Frozen Orb.
Frozen Orb has its utility where Blizzard does not. I can cause a lot of havoc using Frozen Orb in that where I’m going to attack in PVP is going to be unpredictable, where Blizzard you just need to expect to be namelocked and pray you don’t end up in the right spot of the hitbox of Blizzard when it is cast.
Frozen Orb lets you be proactive. Blizzard requires you to wait 3 seconds. Frozen Orb also has super high damage output potential when aimed correctly. Frozen Orb also is a form of crowd control in that you have a ton of damage flying about everywhere.
Just because Frozen Orb doesn’t insta-gib your target doesn’t make it useless for PVP.
For PVE, it is still extremely useful. As a Frozen Orb Fire Ball Sorceress, you can expect to be able to clear all matter of content on your own, provided you also have physical damage in the way of a Merc for the Fire/Cold Immunes which are few and far.
If we made Frozen Orb any more powerful than it is now, not only would it invalidate Blizzard, but it would become the new Blizzard in that it would be the only thing used.
As of right now, Frozen Orb is in a very good spot. Sure, it may not be the greatest for lobbies greater than 5 players but it still works very well and allows your gameplay to be dynamic, where Blizzard does not.

Currently, for content above P1 Blizzard does pull ahead in almost all scenarios. For P1 pure Blizzard isn’t actually the fastest cold build in most areas, simply because of the smaller radius. With strong gear Frozen Orb pulls ahead. Hybrid cold build with orb/blizz is also faster and in the next patch it will be even better since you’ll be able to spam them after each other. Another underrated build for P1 is Frost Nova, which is arguably the fastest P1 cold build but it requires really good items due to its lackluster damage. I run a hybrid variant of all three, where I spam forb and fnova in-between cd to clear spread monsters and Blizzard clumped up packs. If you’re tired of Infinity lightning sorc then this is a very nice change of pace, and it will be even better in 2.4.
They did buff frozen orb. They allowed it not to put skills on cooldown. Meaning you can use glacial spike to freeze and control then use frozen orb. Or use meteor / orb. Or whatever combo you desire.
You can already do that in this patch. Frozen Orb doesn’t triggere cd on Glacial Spike. Currently it only triggers the “cd” of similar spells, such as Blizzard. Next patch it won’t :).
Not to mention, Frozen orb is still bugged, at least in comparison to how it was (apparently) designed to function. Not to mention, the synergy with Frost Bolt is ridiculously low and Cold Mastery is broken. /shrug.

Hey now Frost Nova/Static/Thunderstorm is gonna be new meta I am calling it now, wait until people see the power of entire screen getting chunked in half and then finished off with probably still way too many frost novas, all the while Thunderstorm kills the stragglers and champions, gonna be amazing just you wait and see, frozen orb is a relic, frost nova and thunderstorm are our New Gods, now repent
Absolutely not, it’s not gonna be any better than Blizzard even Frozen Orb was slightly buffed. You can basically slay any monsters in PvM in single player with any skills. However, it is so true that Frozen Orb damage is ridiculously low in 8 players map compared to Blizzard. There are reasons why all top players with cold build use Blizzard only. It is useful for havoc in PvP??? Dude, Frozen Orb is not designed to just confuse and crowd control your enemies and you know that 
I would’ve loved for the devs to reduce the “cd” on Frozen Orb at least. It would make the build play much more fluently, and it still woudn’t be strong enough to dethrone Blizzard from high player setting content. I’d rather have less cd on both Blizzard and Orb at the cost of lower damage output if necessary, tbh.
Yea why not… You can play whatever you want in this game freely. But since I am talking about high level game play, no thank you.
I agree with you. Frozen orb is good, I play frozen orb sorceress for many years. Its much better for gameplay as hit mechanic of blizzard sucks. If we talk damage, I would maybe add 2% synergy from Cold Nova. It would increase dmg slightly but also you would have to decide if youuse points for higher cold dmg, utility or anothet element.
Well maybe its time to nerf blizzard then. Everyone is constantly crying about hammerdins so why not sorceress if she can farm at p8, I dont think anyone should be able to kill monsters easily on /players 8 solo.
I play Paladin too. Hammerdin got clearly nerfed as they changed the mechanic of blocking in 2.4. It is honestly no fun build with too much power even when I owned people in PvP. It clearly needed some nerf.
And I guess there were tons of people crying about Frozen Orb being way too strong long time ago. And they want to make it weak as now. So they don’t have to deal with the Frozen Orb in PvP. But since I only use non-Sorc classes in PvP now, it won’t matter anyway.
I dont see any nerf related to blocking.
