Relax dude. Im down to changes in rune drops. They are extremely rare and you need to invest lot of time to get one.
I did read the post. Theyâre making a slippery slope argument: ânice litte bonus today, game beats itself tomorrow!â
This type of argument is rooted in logical fallacy and has no place in a rational discussion. This is typical conservative thought. Little things are automatically assumed to evolve into bigger things until the world comes to an end.
Yeah, high runes are extremely rare for runewords that are very powerful⌠You should be required to invest a lot of time to find them⌠Then thereâs the trade aspect of the game⌠You can find other desirable items, other runes even to trade for the runes you need.
Did you not get this game to fill the time that would otherwise be spent in boredom? If the high runes can all be acquired in a fraction of the time spent and you can make your character godly, what else is there to do? What, engage in KA⌠ME⌠HA⌠ME⌠HA!!! PVP matches or just continue blowing over monsters like a tornado would do to paper bags?
Diablo 2 is a loot grind ARPG which can be beaten with junk gear, and in a few cases, NO GEAR.
And just to make sure some people are aware: Magic Find doesnât influence the runes you find.
But thatâs why people are laughing and frustrated with comments like yours.
Itâs literally already happened in Blizzard games and even more annoying the Diablo franchise itself.
But donât worry, people that donât recall history always default to the slippery slope fallacy, youâre not being clever, just uninformed and unaware.
And thoughts of the other persuasion brought us D3, so whatâs your point brainiac?
The fact that slippery slopes have occured before is not valid rationale for a different slippery slope happening somewhere different. An assumption is still an assumption and not a fact, regardless of how many times it happened before.
Thereâs nothing wrong with D3. Itâs not my jam, but it was a hugely successful game and many people love it.
Things change over time, it is inevitable. Gamers today expect different things from gamers of 20 years ago. It is both unfortunate in some ways and good in others- it brings with it new innovations and game ideas (some of which will suck and some of which will be good, but thatâs just how things work).
The reason the slppery slope argument is a fallacy is the assumptions made can not be proven. Logic is based on facts. Yes, it could go the way you suggest, it could also some other way you didnât predict, because no matter how many times something has happened before, it isnât a guarantee of what the future brings. You donât have a crystal ball.
Also: They left classic D2 running for a reason: theyâve even continued to do ladder resets. If you hate so much the idea of short term perk events in the game, then feel free to go back to classic. They SPECIFICALLY kept it alive because they knew some people would not like new things being added to the game.
Except thatâs not what is happening, is it? Instead it directly and appropriately relates to, or is in congruence with the company, products and exact franchise being discussed.
I know youâre not purposefully trying to strawman, but in the realm of Diablo and trends of Blizzard Iâm a GD retiree. History is the key to the present, and the proof is plastered all over the place.
Iâm not actually strawmanning in the first place, much less trying to.
Weâre not even talking about the present, weâre talking about the future. If youâre a retiree as you say, among the many things you should have learned is that things change over time. Times change, peopleâs wants and desires change. If you donât want D2 to change at all, and youâre totally content playing the same game with the same content and no new features forever, play diablo II classic. Itâs still available, people still play it. You canât have your cake and eat it too. Let the youngâuns have their fun. The whole point of Ressurected is to bring the game into a modern age. Of course itâs going to adopt at least some modern conventions. If youâre so old fashioned and such a big party pooper that you canât enjoy the game just because they gave a tiny buff to drop rates for four days, JUST BECAUSE it could mean something less desireable down the road, then GO PLAY CLASSSIC.
Man, I grew up with the commodore 64 and NES, Iâm not exactly one of todayâs kids. I donât like every single new thing that has come out of the gaming universe, but Iâm wise enough to accept that things change, people change, and target audiences change. If they didnât make any compromises at all to appeal to a newer generation, they would not have gained any new players and Ressurected would have been an abject failiure.
I will reserve judgement as I always have. If a year from now theyâre giving away rune words, based on your ridiculous slippery slope, then by all means come back and say âi told you so.â Until then, I will laugh at the ridiculous logic that occasional short-term events will âdestroy the game.â
Did double XP weekends destroy Call of Duty? Maple Story? Come on man, games have been doing this for decades, it wasnât even a new concept when Diablo II originally came out.
Final Fantasy XI is an MMORPG iâve played since it came out 20 years ago. If they did a remaster of it, but the game otherwise remained the same aside from nicer graphics, it absolutely would not see an increase in players. All the things that game does are draconian by todayâs standards and most people would reject itâs gameplay even though I consider it to have been great for its time (and still today). No, if they remastered the game, theyâre going to have to do more than just make it look nicer. Theyâd have to do something to appeal to todayâs game players.
BLA BLA BLA i could reminisce for hours. But again, slippery slope is slippery slope. It isnât a valid logical argument.
Exactly this. While I have never loved these kind of buffs in games, this instance is minute at best. It doesnât bother me as long as they never get crazy and do triple rune drop weekends and such.
Casual stands for ânot a loser IRLâ /wink /wink
not a fan of these kind of events either, and considering its Blizzard there might be a deeper reason for it. like gauging the popularity of it and if successful, turning it into a new paid feature lol
You really shouldnât read so far into stuff like this. Itâs just a little promotion to try and get the attention of some people who may have stopped playing.
But everyone instead is like " small loot boost today, free zod runes tomorrow!"
Itâs not even a buff. I donât need more useless uniques. I have have mules full of the things. I need bases lol.
That is true. I never thought about it being a negative thing for certain item hunts.
i guess op is right
2 hand ww barb is dead now same with 1 hand slower weapon
Is it me, or are you concerned about all the cash you poured into the game, and how these events could affect prices?..
LoL, too much dramaâŚ
Insignificant buffs considering the odds of getting something useful in this gameâŚ
Yes this is a good thing⌠We want them to improve the game, if you dont like it go back to LOD.
Us who wanted changes and buffs are vocal here about especially HR drop rates.
Finally blizz is listening to the players.
Good riddance.
Yep trash balancing still no nerf to grief/no alteranitive 2H besides Breath of the dying on a very rare 6s ETH War Pike.
Let me clarify something first. I made myself the time to make Enigma, Infinity, fortitude (2 of them eth, one non eth), grief, get torchs, gcs, annis, and griffon. All that before ladder. Now i have forty again and grief.
But, if you want my HONEST opinion, I prefer some balance changes on how the GRIND works, and if you want to invest 100 hours, make it count, reward the time players invest. So in that way, if you put, for example 20 hours, i ll know for sure a High rune(s) are going to drop for sure. Forgive for my bad english.
Well unfortunately thatâs not how RNG works. There is no guarantee to get an item within a certain time frame.
Iâve found two Vex runes, two Gul runes, I have found Windforce, however I have yet to find a single Pul rune.
Itâs just RNG being RNG. There are odds, and then there are results⌠Two different things. The smaller the sample size, the more chaotic the results can be. The larger the sample size, the more the results line up with the odds.
