Baalrun Etiquette

  1. Respect the Host

  2. Baalruns are for leveling. Don’t MF. If you want to MF, ask the Host if it’s okey.

  3. Respect higher levels (97+). Your key farm is less important than a 98’er killing Nihla

  4. Ask if something is free “Hi, can i take CS?”, “Hi, is nihl taken?”

  5. If the run kills Baal, or a Baal Party kills Baal, don’t leave the game before they do (you can leave once someone enters Chamber in theory)

  6. Be attentive und proactive. Dont stand around until Throne is cleared everytime. When TP goes up, you go in.

  7. Never, ever, not even once, do you open the next game unless asked. Only Host does.

  8. Never, ever, not even once, do you call “ng” when you are not the host. Only Host does.

  9. Wave 2 has an xp bug. If 8 Players are in Throne (are in one party and are in proxomity to the monsters) and kill Wave 2, no one gets xp. The workaround is for one person to leave the party so the other 7 players gain xp. Good etiquette is the lowest player leaves the party. Once the wave is cleared, invite the person back into the party.

Happy to answer any questions.

When you join a Baal game, is there a an expectancy to “give” baal xp to higher levels? Is 8 players killing baal a waste of XP?

I find hilarious that player with name “Leech” is posting about baalrun etiqquete :joy:

But yeah good rules.

the general etiquette is that the 4 highest level players share the baal xp.

the reason is because the higher you get, the more significant of a share baal xp is. the extreme case is a level 98 character. he only gets XP from diablo, nihla and baal. so you can imagine that maximising the gain from baal is important.

if you are, lets say a 87 character, baal xp isn’t really that important, because waves give you a lot already.

as a sidenote, the baal party only gets baal XP if they have the last hit which kills baal. generally, the highest 4 players should be able to do this consistently (javazones are very talented at getting last hit). however, its still a nice thing to do, to maybe stop hitting baal when he is low life if you are not in the baal party. generally it’s said that baal party gets XP, loot is for the rest or everyone.

to put it in numbers (98 character 10% anni)

8 Player Baal Spawn with 8 Player party: 15,965
8 Player Baal Spawn with 4 Player party: 41,764

Btw you should add that play with highest mfshould have last hit on baal or player with quest bug.

this is certainly interesting and maybe you can coordinate this in a closed run and maybe even should, if you dont lose time by doing so.

in public runs i think there are more pressing problems to address – generally.

You sound awful to run with. What a nag. Who cares if someone leaves before the host does. Get a grip lol

My etiquette:

  1. don’t bother with chaos but have some other areas in mind
  2. don’t say anything you just make the noobs mad
  3. if game is full make the next game in the sequence
  4. don’t bother arguing with noobs there is nothing they can do

not even bad mannered, simply lacking knowledge and unable to read.

like i said, you can leave the run once someone enters chamber. why? because thats the moment baal spawns and he locks in the n of players, which determines base xp.

basically what you are saying is, that im annoying to baalrun.

but you leave the run, costing everyone (including the host most likely) experience.
and what do you gain by leaving the game early? nothing. absolutely nothing. the host wont open quicker.

you are a net negative for everyone. stop leaving game before someone enters chamber. its that simple.

Well, once you get a group, go private and voila, no mfers. Or set a level lock … there are options. You nor anyone else will set any kind of rules for open games, no matter how hard you try. YOU are NOT in control!

You can just leave the game early and make the game yourself duh. Baal exp maxes out at players 3 btw

it maxes out at 5 players. been known for years.

there is a difference between rules and etiquette.

im simply outlining some “good manners” or “behaviour” for people who maybe would like to be good players and not be a nuisance.

obviously many are not interested in such conduct and everyone is free to be a bad player or to BM. im fully aware of this.

but make no mistake about the fact that i am in control when playing.

there are various ways to get rid of players in your baalruns.

You wish you were in control. Control is a fallacy. Get over yourself. Make no mistake, people will do as they please in open runs, whether you like it or not.

The best Baal etiquette is

  1. ask blizzard to add players 8

&&

  1. ask blizzard to add “King of the Hell” endgame mechanic to the game

Both having the same effect of not having to deal with other players in games

So no players, no rules, therefor all rules are respected

These are for your private baal runs right? Good rules if so… Public games, hah, everything is fair game in a public game.

this hungyj guy is a troll but its a common misconception that baal xp maxxes out at 3P.

for everyone interested in learning about maxxing out baal party xp, baal xp maxxes out for ONE PLAYER in a 3 player spawn. meaning, if you play singleplayer you would set the game difficulty to 3 players to achieve max xp while having lowest life of baal.

1p BP -> max xp @ 3p game
2p BP -> max xp @ 5p game
3p BP -> max xp @ 8p game
4p BP -> max xp @ 8p game

in other words, if you do a 4 player baalparty, each leave before someone enters chamber is a xp loss.

also note, that if you get a fullpalyer baalspawn and you only see 3 people in baal party, you could easily get invited to baalparty even if you are lower level and gain extra xp.

this is how you spot good attentive players which you would add to a friendlist to maybe run closed runs one day :wink:

Blizz themselves announced years ago that online closed bnet 5 players would gain max exp and drops. Can’t argue with the creators.

you can look at the experience you gain when pressing “C”. and there are xp calculators out there made by the most dedicated players and they are correct in their calculations because i checked if they are.

this is simply a false statement or taken out of context, same as people take it out of context that “max xp is at 3 players”.

yes it is, for a solo baal kill. thats a scenario which happens 0 times online so really most people simply parrot something they heard a streamer say instead of learning the game.
