Update: 2.4 launches April 14th, Ladder launches April 28th

We will have an update on this later this week along with some hard dates. Unfortunately that ETA of end of month has pushed out. But isn’t 4 months or anywhere near.

Well I think we can do better at communicating still and I think people saw the comment and were under bated breath waiting for that communication. Unfortunately we needed to do some digging on our end and we still are on our side. But I promise for some comms later this week. I think some people may have noticed, a maintenance didn’t go as planned last week and we are investigating and getting all the details so you all are properly informed on what happened. We will also talk about that.

Seems the maintenance database issues have pushed back 2.4 and Ladder, bummer. :frowning: Not the update I was looking forward to but glad for more communication.

This scares me lol. Why say 4? I would guess it could be 2+ then.

Pez vanished from social media for a couple of days a week or two ago, and someone stated 4 month ladder delay confirmed, to which Pez responded to on Reddit with the original end of month ETA on ladder.

This is just bad…the odd is stacking against Blizzard badly.

It’s getting sad at this point. Really high level of incompetent decision making to not just release the first ladder and develop 2.4’s content while said ladder runs for 4+ months.

see you in 3 month and a half for a ladder

2.4’s content isn’t what is holding ladder back, it’s the database keeling over again even after the rework. There’s not a chance in hell Blizzard is going to start a ladder season that will pound the daylight out of the database and cause it to just flop over and die. They went through that experience once already shortly after launch and were forced to shard the primary regions into sub-regions just to keep the database from self destructing and wiping our progress on a constant basis.

If the database issues persist beyond expected reasonable timeframes, Blizzard may just release 2.4 as a baseline update and push the ladder itself out until they are confident the database will hold up under stress.

Weird. I was under the impression the database was fixed a few months back when they changed the way characters are saved. Kind of odd for the database to implode when most of the community is no longer playing daily…

The first PTR phase was them testing the updated database changes on a separate server.

The extended downtime last week was them implementing those changes to the primary servers… And there was a problem that they’re apparently still working to resolve.

First Ladder when D4 comes out confirmed Poggggggers.

No ETA on database fix means we’re sitting here with no estimate on 2.4 launching. And by proxy, Ladder.

Foolish decision not to have the first ladder release with the game. The servers took a pounding until people stopped playing anyway, so it’s not like it would have created more harm.

It’s actually so sad VV made it so beautiful and literally presented the table for Blizzard to just eat, but what do they do they eat the god damn platter. All they needed to provide were stable servers and running more banwaves than their laughable 2 yearly ones. The 2.4 update looks good, but doesn’t change the hammerdin conc synergy problem which shoudln’t buff MAGIC dmg since it only buffs PHYS dmg and HAMMER is MAGIC. CD on TP is a I don’t care issue, either they do it or not I don’t mind. And last but not least maps and fixing the overhauled thrash anti socialising cheating magnet lootsystem, so people can pug and farm together (besides chaos and baal exp leech runs), since the only people doing that are 0.0000000000000001% of the community which are streamer/friend groups of 8.

That is what they are working towards… Unfortunately they’ve been hitting a few snags along the way. It sucks, we all want ladder 4 months ago, but it is what it is. We’ll get there.

I’m hoping they run at least weekly ban waves! Daily would be nice, but I know that’s overkill.

Kinda I mean they can’t fight the cheating and RMTing problem anyway with their laughable garbage 2 yearly “banwaves”. Just look at D3 there are so many people botting with 10k+ offseason paragon, where you could literally ban almost everyone in top 100 in every class by just checking their profiles, instead of those thrash 2 yearly meaningless banwaves. I would run 10+ ban waves randomly every day for 1 1/2 months and if it would cause a DC I wouldn’t gaf. In both games.

Best joke of the year goes to Jedi
I mean even in WoW in a monthly paid game you see chains of deers and birds auto pilot herb farming and brain afk tanks perma leather farming on the same spot not being banned it’s just so sad.

Aim high and hope for the best right?.. Or is it expect the worst and accept what’s shoveled at you? Hmm.

I lay my hands into molten lava if I’m wrong, but I say with this first ladder all the scum sites like jsp and vice versa will make almost as much or more money by the end of the first ladder than Blizzard did with D2:R.

They applied a bandaid fix by cutting the regions into super mini region, that way server are finally stable with the side effect being people find super limited game room in the lobby.

1st phase of 2.4 PTR was to test how the redesigned of the whole database structure would hold up. And they were implementing it to the live server during last week’s maintenance; however, unexpected things happen resulting in all the unstable and server issue that people experienced last week.
