Hangs at "Checking Versions" US West

In AUs as well, same issue

I’m not sure what comparison you’re trying to draw here, Delirio. The lack of a WC3R ladder was an intended development choice that had nothing to do with which Battlenet the game was hosted on.

The issue here is an unintended connectivity problem to one of the D2 servers.

Hi Blizzard,

In order to speed up the issue solving progress, I just append some info I just found as below.
Below info is for your reference. Hope it can help you find the root cause.

  1. Change ISP could solve this issue.
When I connect internet via ISP1, it make my D2 always stuck at “Connecting to the fastest server”.
But when I change another ISP to connect to interest, then it can successfully connect anf log in Battle Net.
ISP1: always stuck at “Connecting to the fastest server”
ISP2: always can connect and log in.

  2. All region cannot connect with ISP1.
As before, when I use ISP1, noy only [USWest] stuck at “Connecting to the fastest server”, but also [USEast], [Asia], [Europe].
In the other word, all regions stuck at “Connecting to the fastest server” when I use ISP1 to connect to interest.

  3. ISP1 worked fine until this issue happened. ISP1 is my main ISP and I use ISP1 to play D2 for many days and it indeed worked fine before.

I guess this issue may be caused by ISP banning behavior.
Thanks.

Issue in Canuckada as well. Been like this for a week now. The only intermittent behaviour is the 1 in 100 chance that you can make a successful connection to USWest. The ‘Connecting to Fastest Server’ => “Checking Versions” behaviour is completely consistent. USEast working generally fine. USWest is a gong show.

I’ve asked every player I’ve come across on West. It has been affecting each and every one. Yes, we’re able to log-in, but it takes multiple tries, sometimes up to 20-30 minutes to get past that screen. This is a US West Specific issue. FIX.

Havent been able to get into any of the servers, Internet is fine and im running a modern PC, so its powerful enough to run D2. (PC fires up on WarZone but for d2 its so quite i can hear myself breath)

If only their was a way to privately provide screen shots of us logging in/re-installing/ logging back in/ switching servers/ the error messages…“Classic” saying Pictures are worth a thousand words…i think someone somewhere forgot that…maybe.

I was able to get onto Europe, Asia, and US East with no problems almost all the time. For me, US West is the one with log in problems. Bigger problem is at “Checking Versions” but also sometimes “Connecting to the fastest server”. If it hangs on the “…server” you never got to BNet. If you get to “Checking Versions”, then you are on BNet–because that is where “Checking Versions” takes place. The “…fastest server” being in trouble is no surprise–because lots of people have to keep trying to log in over and over again due to the “Checking Versions” problem. Once they fix “Checking Versions”, I believe the server problem(s) will go away.

Hi. I have not been able to log in to Us West for about a week or so now. I can get to the password screen using Us East, and it tells me the account does not exist. This is really scary to me, can someone give me any info on this please?

Edit; I switched back to US West and it let me log in immediately and all my Chars are there. Had a mini heart attack

Your accounts dont exist on the other servers lol…

That makes complete sense.

I am getting total packet loss when try I ping any of the classic games servers :frowning:

I will try to contact my ISP but I have little hope this will be fixed - 3 days offline and counting

The various game servers deliberately do not respond. It would be fairly simple to overload them with a ping or other attack. I do a tracert when there are ongoing problems (such as the current issue). If it gets to where it should go (att net), I get the * * * *. Then I know the route from my computer to the servers is working properly. I have used this technique previously with other connection issues. Sometimes there was a network problem in my area that was already identified and was being fixed. Every now and then I am the first one to report a problem.

Yup, I’m getting checking versions on Every server and i am not overloading the servers XD. for the past 3 days i have attempted to log in once to each server starting with US West then US east and so on…Nothing happens, I come to Forums and i Rant… Any Moderater who check my activity can Confirm this.

people who have Purchased Classic D2 still have to pay for the Remaster Correct? that’s a barrier, problem will still need to be resolved.

If Resurrected follows what WC3R did, then those who have a legacy D2 key linked to their Battlenet account will be able to play the Classic mode of Resurrected at no additional charge. The new remastered content however will need to be purchased.

Why has this been going on for a week without any fix?

I believe you are correct.

I don’t believe that is what will happen. They are not handling it the same way.

WC3R took away the ability to play the original so they granted access to the basic remaster part.

D2R is leaving the original totally alone. The classic keys still give players exactly what they payed for. If you want to play D2R you need to buy the new version of the game.

I have this exact same issue of “Checking version” for several days now! And it only happens on US WEST, all other realms are fine.

I did however, was able to connect just ONE time on West the other day. But once I disconnected, I wasn’t able to get on again!

Is this the impression blizzard wants to put out before the release of D2 resurrected? I hope not
