Cannot update WoW TBC - don't have administrator rights

Hey there,

No new updates from our Dev/QA team. I just wanted to check in with y’all. If you are impacted by this issue and have not posted on this forum regarding the bug please do so. Our support staff will add you to our tracking of the bug.

If you have posted already, it should be fine to leave it at that until we are in the “retest” phase. I’ll post on this thread once we have more updates!!

Thanks for reaching out to us. Cheers!

Still having this issue as well. I uninstalled all games and the battle.net app. Reinstalled battle.net, and now nothing is happening when I try to reinstall the games. Reinstalls won’t follow through.

This is still an issue: on MAC version 10.15.17. Tried what others have tried … Still not allowing update

This has been happening for me for almost two months. I thought it was on my end until today. I am windows based and have been getting the admin sign in crap for weeks now. I have done many different things to get it working on occasion. I have re-downloaded battle.net a couple times and full game delete and re-install twice now.

Got this issue yesterday. Tried reinstalling the launcher and trick with Agent 7531 with no results. Mac desktop, macOS Mojave, no updates except the launcher update. Repair doesn’t result in anything. Neighbors wifi tried with no results either.

Have this same issue but for Starcraft, works on laptop so its not the WIFI, accounts are administration and have redownloaded battle.net as well as ran scans of the programs. Rest of the blizzard games work with firewalls. Need help.

couldn´t update WoW constantly switched between updating and w8ing for another update to finish (there wasnt any active) untill the try again as admin error popped up, tried reinstalling same problem. Windows-User

Same problem here, worked with restarting the computer and opening Agent 7531. Mac OS 11.6 - haven’t quit out of Bliz launcher for fear to the dreaded lock-out again.

I did the workaround of going into my wow classic folder and using the world of warcraft launcher. Finally got in after 3 days of trying various things. Just hope this work around keeps working. MacOS Big Sur 11.6 here

I’m having the same issue, MacOS 10/15/7 Catalina. I ended up going into Activity Monitor and deleting Agent and restarting from 7531 and finally got it to work, but I’m going to be pissed if I have to jump through these hoops again. As others have mentioned, we pay for this service and expect to be able to log in as required.

Haven’t been able to log on TBC Classic for 3 days. I’ve tried re-downloading/re-installing the Blizzard launcher and TBC as well as giving folders more permissions. When I try to update TBC it just scans the files indefinitely or gives me the error code.

edit: I’m on Monterey 12.0.1

So season of mastery comes out tomorrow, and I can’t install the game… fun

I’ve reinstalled the launcher, which was no help. This is not good for people wanting to play SoM.

I have the same issue. Can’t update any game from the launcher. Asks admin password every time and still says I need to start launcher with admin rights. macOS Big Sur

Worked for me. Thanks!

I think you have to be fast for it to work. Click old Agent.app (Agent.7531-Folder in my case) start battle.net immediately after.

Mac OS 10.13.6

same. all I want to do is play hardcore season of mastery, but ive already missed the name reserve, and now it looks like since i cant download the actual client, im going to miss out on the release of SOM too. all my friends will out level me and im going to miss doing dungeons with my friends, an event which ive been planning for a month now.

im able to open wow classic launcher directly from the game files and play, but im still not able to play normally, or update or download new iterations, such as season of mastery.

I was having this same problem on 2 different Mac’s. One Intel iMac and one Mac Mini M1. I was able to fix it by going to Applications/World of Warcraft/Data folder. Get Info on the Data Folder. Permissions were correct as Read & Write for Me, admin, and everyone. Then, at the bottom right corner, click the lock and enter your password. Then at the bottom left hand corner drop down menu select Apply to enclosed items… A dialog box popped up asking me if I was sure. I said heck yea. After that both machines successfully updated just fine and we could play.

What a disaster… one bug after another before the previous one is fixed. Frustrating

Didn’t help for me. That is going almost a week already. Blizzard are you kidding? Also totally no information about any ETA
