Zooming your camera in Arena

I have just been getting into arena and I was wondering if there is any benefit in being able to zoom your camera

I am asking this because I am inclined to use the scroll wheel for targeting macros, but I have found that it feels weird to constantly have the camera out of my control, especially in tight fights. Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

If you zoom in close enough onto a DK’s hand, you can see them holding their free points they’re about to take from you.

i personally have used scroll wheel up/click/down to set focus for arena 1/2/3 respectively for years and have never been in a situation where i’ve wanted or needed to adjust camera zoom

i guarantee you wont even notice it tbh

you can alternatively use shift scroll up / shift scroll click / shift scroll down
for targeting or zoom if it makes you comfortable to have the option

Alright, I’ll try it out then.
I think I will use up/click/down for regular targeting and shift up/click/down for focus

Thanks for your input

On a completely other topic, if backpedaling isn’t beneficial whatsoever, would it be fine to bind the S key? Sorry, pretty much a noob here.

I have bound the s key to abilities as backpedaling is useless, this another thing that is entirely optional and based on what’s comfortable for you.

in late BC I decided that I needed to set my scroll wheel to focus macros (focus lock, kick, etc). So I set my camera zoom in and out to CNTRL + Wheel that way I still had the ability to zoom in and out on the fly.

Now when I need to zoom in and out I find that it’s second nature to do that. Even when I play other games I find that I instinctively hit control and scroll wheel to try and zoom in and out and realize that’s not how it is by default in every game.

I also use Ctrl + scroll up and down for zooming in and out.

I mainly use my mouse wheel for pet attack / pet follow with scrolling and auto run on scroll wheel click, not targetting or specific abilities.

I just like being completely zoomed out as far as I can, and not having it move. I prefer being pretty zoomed out so I can just see / observe more. One thing I will say is I typically play from a high PoV looking down, which does sometimes just cause some issues with walls/pillars getting in the way of my sight as well as putting totems up in the sky or dropping link up in the air - that’s probably the biggest down fall, haha

I have also managed to put cap totem in some of the weirdest places. Makes for a good laugh

Its amazing that if I’m standing on a pebble, I can’t drop my totems because of pathing, yet I can lob one way up in the air no problem floating.

S is one of my favorite binds on all my chars. Put something there you need quick and often. On my rogue I use it for stealth as it’s easy to mash quickly :stuck_out_tongue:

All my placement totems are @cursor so if I’m too quick to notice the small twig hanging from the wall then boom, flying totem.

My favorite is I was doing freehold M+ and we just killed the second boss where you have to get drunk. Tank proceeds under the bridge to pull the next pack of mobs so I go to quickly drop a cap totem. End up hovering over the bridge and my Cap totem ended up on the bridge 50 feet above us.

Honorable mention goes to getting it somehow stuck against the center pillar where carts spawn in silvershard mines.

I’ve always been a huge fan of seeing my freezing trap fly to the top of a pillar on nagrand or on top of the boxes in Dalaran sewers. Yup… that’s exactly where I wanted to catch him off guard, on top of spot he can’t walk… Would be next level though if a floating trap caught a DH mid air on Rain from Above

ive always had my camera max distance. its great until you drop an orb on the ceiling :frowning:

edit: guess i should read the rest of the thread before posting so i dont just repeat whats been said 4 times. oopsies

I use shift-mousewheel for zooming in and out

mousewheel forward for shadowstep, blink, charge etc, mousewheel backwardfor ice block, vanish etc

i zoom all the way out and unbind it, great until you amz the ceiling then dont die cause you’re dh/dk.

worst case u can set scroll to ALT+ scrool wheel or ctrl + scroll etc

its what i do i use scroll wheel for focus n junk

just gotta send it

Isn’t backpedaling the most important bind for any true Bm hunter? :face_with_monocle:
