Shift+M to bring up zone map, top left allows a menu to unlock the map, change opacity, etc…
If I ‘Unlock the map’ it centers to the screen (I wanted to put it in the bottom right corner that doesn’t get anything else placed there by the game) and is immovable.
The hover-menu for the map options moves to the very bottom left of my screen, and is only visible when I have the pointer over the ‘X’ on the zone map, now in the center of the screen. The hover menu is barely visible and you can’t interact with it (as your pointer is so far away).
This was on a fresh Alliance Shaman, so, I deleted the character and remade it. I experienced the same issue.
At that point I uninstalled BC and re-installed on a different drive.
Opening the game and creating another Shaman the same thing happened; zone map comes up, attempt to move, it snaps to the center of the screen and the hover-menu is not connected to it any more.
I had this same issue happen to me yesterday, thought I was the only one. Thank goodness I’m not, let’s hope they get this fixed. It’s such a great tool
Experiencing this exact same issue. I thought it was my addons so I disabled them, same thing happens. Did an entirely clean installation of the game and it still persists.

Make sure WoW is closed, then open Blizzard_BattlefieldMap.lua in Notepad, and adjust the y and x axis to something like 300, 1200. Save the file, then start WoW. From there, you can keep closing and reopening WoW as you adjust and save the file until you get it where you want it.
I also set locked to true so that I wouldn’t accidentally try to move it. If you click on it to move it manually it just messes it up again. If that happens, sometimes the y and x part disappears in the lua file, so you can open the Blizzard_BattlefieldMap.lua.bak file in Notepad and copy and paste that into the main file to get it back.
TBH with all the stuff in the news about the 2-year investigation…I just cancelled my sub. But I hope others can use this info (you can tell I haven’t played in over a month already anyways, that map thing really bugged the snot out of me…)
