Will we get the same zombie event we had when Wrath launched? The one where the silver rares dropped the undead slaying sets?
The zombie even comes in phases, the first of which starts tomorrow.
Zombie Plague Event
Week-long event, September 6th through the 13th (US)
- Players can get the debuff You’re Infected! which lasts 10 minutes before transforming you into a Plague Zombie
- The debuff can be cleansed by Priest, Paladins, or Argent Healer NPCs
- If you die before being cured, you will come back as a zombie
- Players can infect other players by casting Retch! or Zombie Explosion!, cities and populated areas will not be safe
- This is just the beginning of the event, and it will escalate after day 1 — you can check out our Zombie Event post for more information
Scourge Invasion Event
Starts September 13th and lasts until the release of WotLK on September 26th
- The Lich King sends his necropolises to each capital, sending in waves of zombies to destroy the cities of the living
- Players can coordinate a defensive stand against the attacking Necropolis and defeat Scourge forces to gain powerful rewards

Can you opt out of this or are you forced to deal with it/participate?
There is no opting out and nowhere is safe. It’s like opting out of covid, only way is to go somewhere where you are by yourself.

It’s forced, sad to say. I’m at the point where I’m logging out of the game until it’s done.

Why? It’s not that bad. You can go to a healer to cure yourself and go on with the game.

Because after 1G in repairs over the last two days, I’m done. Not only that, Booty Bay is overrun with gankers or what ever you want to call them and can’t turn in any quests.
Eating loud Belfs is the game tho?
They can eat anything they want, just not this Blood Elf.

As annoying and frustrating as this is, I’m glad they kept it if it’s how they did it back in the original launch. I’m definitely not going to get my character leveled in time now, but I’m not alone in that so whatevs

Honestly… its about considering the BS queue times if you’re on a server like that, and the time that you have. If you’re in a position where you can just queue AV to level up and be set with gear upon 70 or are already 70 and just want to get gear, it’s honestly not worth it at this point. The zombie event isn’t necessarily bad, but the bodies they leave cause a build up on the ground that makes you PC slowly load the area (if you’re luck enough to get past the ridiculously long queue times).
