zerith mortis has bad mob placement for people without flying, they dismount you and you are griefing yourself trying to get to a place faster by taking a smart shortcut, the bosses should be on a global timer that have set intervals when they spawn too to circumvent the issue that oh i guess this boss is around here because they just killed him x amount of time, this stuff has already been figured out look at gw
yeah well we all dealt with that - there is mount equipment that fixes that isn’t there?
and the rares do have timers - most are 30-60 minutes I believe.
after you kill them not on set intervals, so its random given how long people wait/ kill the boss, guild wars has global bosses that have set timers they spawn at specific times of the day
Used to be fun defeating this mobs, but, it looks like Blizzard no longer lets players enjoy that part of the game. Zerith Mortis used to be fun to play but it is the most boring place to be in the entire game. Will not waste time in that place with nothing to do except the the Seplacur BS while playing with the Elite Snobs of the game.
Just wait till DF’s version of ZM and Dracthyr are beating you to the rares with their racial, or to be more precise the expansion after that when dragon flying probably won’t be a thing.
I did my best to respond to every thread suggesting always-up vignette rares be replaced with longer spawn timers with a desperate “Noooooo”.
how would this help with anything? people would still miss them but it would take longer to wait until the next respawn.
WoD/Legion/early-BfA, most “rares” were just special elites that were always up (also known as vignettes).
There were threads at the time of people lamenting wanting longer respawn timers (I kid you not, people actually asked for them - although some were asking for old-school days-or-weeks long timers). I was never sure if they were serious or trolling, but against my hopes, apparently the devs ran with it.
if they are at set times the map could tell you when it spawns or whatever could tell you when it spawns so everyone gets a shot at tagging the mob
i got it, its just bad design perma up rares isnt really the solution, i think if you had ample time to get to the mob or get distracted with the bit tier mob placement like i dunno the person who did that just wanted you to be griefed if you went anywhere not on the roads and even then theres some choke points.
like the same timers but set at specific intervals not when the boss was killed, like who is going to let the boss sit there, its not about like it should be longer, it should be predictable not random, you should know when the next one is up not have to estimate when the last one was killed
like imagine if they just implemented a simple timer that let you knew 10 mins ahead of time when the mob is going to spawn and the actual spawn timer not counting to the approximation, would that hurt the game? what is the game losing if it was implemented? would the interaction between player and mob change? would players plan for specific encounters knowing the exact moment the mob is going to spawn? could they potentially raise the difficulty of said mob?
if they are going to be making bad jumping puzzles and bad world bosses i duno man like you cant help but wonder why they would feel inspired to create mediocrity and think “yeah this is meaningful and exciting gameplay”, like legit the person who put the mobs there and the person who worked on the rares did they ever have a discussion? if they are the same person god help us all, were ducked, not all maps are like this just this one in particular is exceptionally bad
An issue I could see with set spawn times might be that the spawnpoints would get camped at those times, and anyone who didn’t happen to be right there when the spawn happens will almost definitely miss the tag.
At least with callouts there’s still a chance if one isn’t too far away.
see thats where the players interaction with the mob changes its no longer frantic nonsense, its predictable letting you plan around the fact that x mob is spawning at 1 min from now, y mob is 3 mins from now and z mob is etc etc. like you wouldnt be griefed just because u didnt happen to be in the right part of the map you would be griefed if you planned poorly, like if you didnt get to the mob to tag it in time that is on you instead of “i was dismounted because the devs think its funny when i take shortcuts, and everyone else can fly” like the timer thing creates an entirely different relationship to whatever frantic nonsense it is currently and each mob doesnt have to be spongy to compensate for people rotating to the mob in time.
the fact 1 person can fly and 1 person cant doesnt matter its an equal playing field for both other than like maybe getting the mobs that spawn at close intervals but besides that it would be the same, allowing a natural progression through the map would incentivize players to do each mob not whatever one hasnt been killed yet, if the mobs were spaced out and timed out it would let a natural progression through the map like a train that rotates through the map from one spawn to the next, and it wouldnt even need a group it would just occur naturally through the players wanting to tag the mobs that spawn at x time, like theres nothing wrong with that is there? missed this boss? oh just follow the train to the next one
yeah I remember that - they said they wanted rare to be rare - blizzard never gave us that with the ZM rares.
yes I know - they did that for the pre- expansion event in ice crown. If they made it easier to get, they would reduce the rewards accordingly though.
You don’t need to kill each one every day. I just kill the ones I come across when I am questing and if there was something I wanted from one in particular I would just camp it.
But do you actually want those? Personally, one time-lost protodrake has been taunting enough for over a decade.
theres room for that for like super masochistic people who love grinding, they can have that im just saying what does the game lose by having it for one of the avenues of progression
The fundamental issue here is tagging the rare killing to unlock ZM flying.
No I don’t. I would rather world quests be like BFA and legion and have the rares up most of the time.
I am okay with this system though and I am doubtful that the timer business is an improvement. With a timer instead of waiting 40 minutes for a rare I could end up waiting a few hours for the one I want.
by extension the mob placement because you are griefed along the way to get to the place you want to be
Sounds good let’s implement this.
I prefer perma rares. Very sensitive to your time. Argus was really nice for this. Right now ZM is barren though so soloing rares is usually what you have to do if you aren’t playing in prime times.
