That’s what I’m wondering too. I’ve not heard about any upcoming changes to Zekvir, good or different.
Sounds like a perfectly tuned solo boss tbh.
160 attempts isnt too bad.
110 learing what was the wrong choices, 50 learning the fight with the correct choices, 2 where you learnt not to just burn the boss and finally after all the progression, you pulled it off.
Congrats…Blizzard for designing a fight where you cant just overgear it with whatever talents/brann setup you run in there with.
Elden Ring is the worst game FromSoft has produced since the Demon Souls era started.
Way too many fights rely on you committing everything to muscle memory. If there’s a boss fight you particularly disliked, you’re in for a ride because you’ll repeat it no fewer than 3 times, by odds. Hopefully you like fighting those dragons, too.
A fight where you’re supposed to not do the thing the game explicitly tells you to do in order to succeed is usually a hallmark of bad game design.
I agree, I think he is massively overtuned and needs to be nerfed.
Like, as a BM hunter, I have to turn off growl to actually fight him, because if my pet gets aggro even for a second they’re dead, his standard melee attack will one shot them, no chance to use any abilities, pre-emptively casting mend pet won’t keep them alive. Running over a potion as soon as the fight starts won’t keep them alive. And the majority of BMs damage comes from their pets.
Idk about worse, but it definitely has its issues. People give it way too much credit while ignoring some of its red flags.
- Boss design is about watching them perform DMC combos until you get 1-3 hits in with little recovery, rinse and repeat
- Damn near most people that plays strength just spams jumping R2s as a strength build because of ez posture damage + stagger creating one of the most braindead gameplay loops for melee builds
- The game came out in 2022 and STILL uses a 1 spell per scroll system. That design is outdated and comes straight out of the 2000s. Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance had the same exact thing but in the sequel you could hotkey 4 spells on top of quickcast allowing you to use 5 spells without scrolling through each one to use it.
I like ER, I really do, I think fromsoft has one of the most incredible takes on magic I ever seen in an ARPG but people really go out of their way to turn a blind eye to its flaws which are heavily noticeable.
Top 10 for me? Maybe but top 5? Not by a long shot.
The fight is a battle of attrition unless you over gear it. Sadly it’s 100x more interesting than most D4 endgame bosses.
OP does, they’re 630. If that isn’t overgeared Idk what is.
Holy moly I was 605 I think on HDH and struggling hard, but to each their own. Everyone has different skills to learn to fill in the gaps. If gear alone could do it we could all walk into Mythic on launch day and get boss kills in under two weeks.
I think it scales because boss was hitting me satanic damages.
Where do you find him? I have a quest from that silly dwarf to kill him but I have yet to see him.
He’s in his own delve in the south west of ajz kahet. Behind where the world boss spawns.
There are two difficulties. “?” And “??”
“?” Requires completing a tier 8, and is pretty manageable only being slightly harder than an end of delve boss. Dodge the slam, kick or freedom the spittle cast, and kill eggs and you should be fine.
“??” Is the hard mode, it unlocks after you complete a single tier 10 and while a bit harder isn’t insurmountable. The fight has tighter reaction timings and you need to kill the eggs before they hatch which means planning your damage a bit, but it’s nothing that can’t be handled.
Ooooo. Thank you. I thought he was supposed to appear in the regular ones.
He does but you can’t kill him. He flees to his lair at 50%, or he kills you and then leaves
I just completed it recently as well on WW monk. Very annoying mechanics vomit kind of fight and I do think that it’s not the best designed challenge around. You definitely have to be patient going into phase 2, egg placements at the edge of the map is very cringe.
Yup. Really weird coming off the back of Darksouls 3 and Sekiro to get this game that has an active contempt for player agency and expects you to actively avoid interacting with the boss till you have a very narrow hit window.
So you only won by getting lucky, in the end, and would take another 100+ attempts to repeat that performance.
Got it.
My biggest issue is that they’re trying to make a Dark Souls fight where one misstep means you die from a 20 year old game with very wonky controls and camera function. It doesn’t work and isn’t any fun.
Jesus I killed this months ago… With like 609 ilv.
I guess we’re not the same
Idk i gave a couple goes on my 609 blood dk
Dont have the dam for the eggs so just die to the add. Everything else is just avoidable with a focus interrupt on the boss
Once i realized it was basically gear and not really mechanical skill i needed i got kinda meh cause i dont want to farm up 10 more ilvls
I did solo 11 no death with the dk at this ilvl because dmg isnt necessary so shame i cant just do whittle zek down as is.
Its pretty scripted, kill egg, interrupt heal and have brann as healer
