If you are asking this, you are going to have issues…
idk, just tried ?? difficulty and I’m getting webbed as soon as I pull Zek.
suddenly taking 20 million damage from what appears to be nothing
Zek’s chain casting his frontal cone
2 eggs spawning at the same time
I’m thinking something is bugged up rn so giving up until reset.
psure none of this is supposed to be happening.
Gonna go check this now.
People will absolutely find some pulls / attempts harder than others. yes. Despite that I don’t think “Sometimes you will die and it is not your fault” is good advice.
No, I agree that’s a bit too simple. But it’s a game so sometimes saying, “dang that combo of add, web, heal, was just so poorly timed I coolant handle it all.” Is a healthy thing to do and a good way to handle it
Just checked, killed it twice nothig untoward happened.
I’ll try again another day.
No big deal rn really.
idk whats happening, but it’s not any fun for me so yea, I got plenty of things to do instead.
I uniroically find it kinda relaxing at this point. Looking forward to the underking. Hoping it’s better designed and as such a little more tightly tuned.
Bad overlaps are what makes any fight worth discussing difficult. WoW is a game where it’s built around overlapping several mechanics that individually would be easy.
I think in general the most healthy thing to do whenever you fail is to critically assess what you could have done.
Were you prioritizing the mechanics correctly? Could you have left the add for a GCD or two to deal with the slow and the heal? What could you have done differently if that overlap happens again?
Sometimes you will come to the conclusion that you could have done nothing to change the outcome, but that’s usually not the case in a solo encounter.
Agreed, I tried it about ten times real quick as I wasn’t up for gaming long tonight. Anyways I really think 1 wipe was unavoidable and maybe 2, but I felt like 90% of the time it was me making a mistake so I feel confident once I focus it’s very doable
Out of curiosity what happened during this one? And which spec did you decide to go with in the end?
ok, so I’m 77 attempts in so far I’ve gotten him down to 20% on my best try but I’m still getting weird stuff happening.
On one attempt I got feared, wasn’t standing in the fear AOE just near it, and my toon ran all the way out of the instance. Literally out the front door and exited the instance.
The spit DOT is problematic. My fade isn’t resetting fast enough to deal with all of them.
The cone AOE isn’t defined well enough. Don’t have to be in it to get hit by it. Same with the fear AOE.
At least once the egg was a strange color and took numerous tries to target it.
also my Zek has 181.3 million health…is it supposed to be that high?
Psure I’ll get a good rng on this one some day. Just ain’t looking like this weekend tho.
Did you take 2/2 Improved Fade?
Yes for DPS and tanks. Healer roles(At least for both Priest specs) he’s around 133m HP.
That’s why I would do it on the stage of expansion where I am fully max’d out on gear which is before the Season ends. Why waste your time on wipes at lower gear?
Ret is probably easiest because of how many defensives it has, and the ability to do most of their rotation from range.
I completed it as a WW monk, and although I wouldn’t recommend it because of how squishy monk is, ToD is useful for getting rid of eggs quickly and easily, and roll is useful for getting out of area attacks.
Are you spec’ed into the cooldown reduction? I had no issues and was able to clear every one.
In phase 2 his fear also sends out balls that fear you if you don’t dodge them. They can be hard to see sometimes with positioning.
Geez I haven’t done ret or shadow, but I was able to do it as a frost mage in about 10 attempts (after learning the mechanics on a different char). That seemed pretty easy. In fact, on my kill attempt, my kid interrupted me around 25% and I did the remainder of the fight while gently explaining that I’d be right with her but I’m doing something very difficult so hang on a sec.
The only adjustment I made was changing my spec to include Ray of Frost in case my egg damage had bad rng.
Was the boss damage tough to deal with as mage?
It scales down for cloth users, so no, it was pretty much the same % HP taken every hit as any other class, I would imagine.
Edit: to be clear, I’ve done this with every armor class, and zek’s melee attacks basically do the same % of your HP across all armor classes. The math changes if you’re a healer or tank, but for dps, you can survive 3 melee hits around ilvl 608 no matter your armor class (iirc… going on memory here)
Shouldn’t be too bad since they’re a cloth wearer.
When I tried doing it on my enhance shaman the boss’ basic melee attacks were taking huge chunks of my health and I had to heal constantly to stay alive. Shadow priest barely had to heal, I imagine mages are similar.
Not really.
