LOL! I had to google it to figure out what Zekvir was. And when I saw he was in a delve, checked that box as things I’ll never get to.

stop trying to make “zekky” happen

Overall… it wasn’t bad but suffered from issues. It very much was a gear check for a lot of classes to see if you could survive the white hits.

Once you can the dps check element disappears for the most part and it just becomes a pattern.

Im not sure designing fights around companions feels good.

Tried the encounter once. Haven’t decided if I am going back or not.

?? is something I’ve yet to do and it’s because I hate the RNG. I need to rely on Brann to dispel me, and sometimes he decides not to.

I did not like the Zekvir challenge because no matter how good I was playing it felt like it made no difference.

Not really, it was borderline impossible for tanks for the longest time(Mostly because if you fail the DPS check on the webs, which you probably will as tanks, it will summon the spider and it’s cast will just destroy your health bar), so eventually I gave up, grinded a Hero track weapon for Ret and went in, after that it was like 5 tries, I was already overgeared, so it wasn’t really the challenge it was supposed to be.

Not really, but I also don’t really have proper dopamine and serotonin regulation, so I very often feel only mild to moderate elation that is quickly forgotten when I complete a task, especially a difficult one.

I did not enjoy doing it, I got it done after several tries, and it means nothing to me.

Disagree. For these kinds of challenges they are exactly that. Good for the game. They are supposed to be hard, they are not for everyone to complete. And if you manage to complete the challenge, then you are supposed to stand out.

Right. Which is why I couldn’t care less about seeing a Legion Mage Tower artifact appearance out in the wild, but if someone is riding around on a Spelltome, then I know they at least did the same level challenge as me.

It was somewhat fun, but my enjoyment of the fight was significantly hampered by the room it took place in. I think somewhere around 75% of my failures were due to trying to move my camera around to better see what was going on.

I liked that he could actually knock Brann out of action. It gave me a chance to pick up Raisin’ Brann. I liked it even more when Brann would fall and I’d finally get to do part of a delve without him annoying me.

The mage towers were more interesting in Legion, but I appreciate that Zekvir was added for season 1. Here is to hoping the season 2 challenge will be interesting.

It was a fun challenge but only fun to get it done once!

I wouldn’t go back to help anybody with it if I could. :joy: no thank you

Zekvir ? was fine. It only had the one interrupt IIRC, no phase 2, and was generally fairly forgiving. There’s a reason people were farming it for quick Delve Vault credit before Blizz stopped it from counting.

Zekvir ?? was fine… only AFTER you realized the extremely unintuitive mechanic Blizzard was shooting for.

It was bad design.

If the mechanic is “you are slowed, find a way to clear the slow”, then the mechanic needs to ROOT (ideally not interruptable) and have the boss follow up with an AoE to avoid. That’s how you broadcast that cleansing the debuff is the goal.

What they did was have an interruptible DoT that chunks you for like 33% of your health per tick that only slows you a little bit. Especially for ranged players, or like Shamans who are using Ghost Wolf to move anyway, this does not broadcast “this is something you can remove”, it broadcasts “this is something you should have avoided in the first place, haha good luck” which is of course impossible most of the time because you have to use your interrupt on the Heal instead.

As soon as you realized that you were meant to talent into specific things to be able to just clear this deadly DoT despite it being a magic debuff by merit of it technically being a slow, Zekvir ?? became infinitely more managable and made sense as a moderate difficulty jump over ?.

But they need to never design a mechanic like this ever again. It’s nowhere near intuitive enough, and there are STILL some specs that really struggle with it due to the cooldowns on their abilities that clear the debuff.

And some of the ones that DO work are unintuitive on their own. Ghost Wolf is a movement ability. Shamans use it all the time. It’s good for getting out of the cones and getting to the egg. But the talent that removes the DoT is tied to Ghost Wolf and has a cooldown. So to beat this fight you now have to break the muscle memory of using your movement ability ever, because it’s now a dispel on a 20 second cooldown, which will trigger if it’s available if you ever ghost wolf, regardless of if you have a debuff or not. Enhancement also can’t use their “Leap to target” ability because it counts as activating Ghost Wolf.

A boss that hits for such large chunks with its autoattack should also never be allowed to crit. DPS just had to pretend they had like 40% less max health at all times or they’d be in danger of dying all the time.

I’m not saying that there shouldn’t be difficult content though. I’m saying that there is in fact good and bad difficulty. I’d prefer difficult content to be difficult because the fight itself is a challenge rather than the background stuff like this fight isn’t built with your class in mind or this fight is difficult because you want the mechanics to roll out just right and you are just rolling the rng slot machine until you get the right pull with the mechanics dropping at convenient times in convenient places.

Zekvir??..yeah I am too lazy to really give this a good try. I set up most of the stuff so I can give my best efforts but I just feel blah about it. I just did one 11 delve when doing all of them at 11 was on my to do list.

Depends what you mean by fun. It was a challenging fight. I was stressed while doing it. But then when I feel elation and relief afterwards does that retroactively make it fun? I think so.

I still have that on my to do list. I was doing all my delve achievements on my ret pally but after a couple of months have still only done one tier 11. In the meantime I’ve been gearing up my prot warrior mountain thane and holy hell, that spec is so good at delves. So I think I’m just going to knock out the other tier 11s on him. Maybe I’ll finally have to change Brann to healer mode!

Even as a healer Brann still wishes for your death. I’m just lazy and I may never do them all on 11 unless something like a pet or mount is a reward.

I liked it a lot, and I don’t agree that it’s an RNG fight at all. Once you do it a few times you understand what his abilities are, and knowing that he can place some things in difficult positions, you just have to always position yourself to be ready for such things. Use builds and consumables specifically-tailored to counter Zekvir in particular instead of a generic build, find ways of increasing your movement speed, and it all works out.

As someone who has done the Mage Tower on many characters in multiple expansions, this is exactly the kind of single-player high end content that I want.

Tried it when it came out awhile back and decided then to wait until later to complete, well I just learned that the season was almost over so I had to get it done. Spent a couple days on it and finally got him down… Never again. But I feel like the camera was definitely a huge factor as well as the RNG on his auto-attack. Dodging his abilities wasn’t even hard as DH is probably the most mobile of the classes.

It’s one of those “thank god it’s over” feelings imho.

The content itself is brutal, but you’re thankful it’s over with afterwards.

Similar to Mage Tower.
