Maybe most people just got what they wanted? I haven’t done a lot down there but I’m almost done with the rep grind and I got my enchanting recipes so I mean other than some side stuff for achievements…
Once the story was over, many people stopped going to the caverns. I agree that it’s quiet, but so are all of the other events. I think we’re over-evented, personally. At least the researcher event gets people when it’s part of the weekly quest.
On my server, no one goes to forbidden reach. I cannot even get groups in the group finder for forbidden reach rares. As soon as the new area opened it died off. It’s a pain, because those rares take forever to kill solo.
It was always to tell the story. I don’t think Bliz needs to hold our hand and tell us the purpose of every little thing. It’s a lot of content. World quests (a ton), items to buy with barter bits, rep to gain, etc. It takes quite a bit of time to knock it all out each week.
Time rifts are in, so niffin is out. It seems to be a consequence of moving the patches along so quickly.
The reason I think we need an explanation is because they legit put in the hotfix notes that “This is not the primary objective of the Caverns” when they released the change to how rares work. There is not much else to do in the Caverns except story as you said and it seems a waste to just create an entire zone specifically just for the story and nothing else. Why did they put rares down there in the first place if the primary objective was story? Why put things on said rares with low drop rates if they were not the primary objective? This is why myself and others are confused and would like atleast some direction so we’re not left seething over something that was a pointless change as we see it now.
This is another grievance. Patches are moving too quickly. I know they said in the past they wanted to speed things up but this is like going light speed than what I had assumed was “we’ll speed up the process of the end of an expansion and not have so much downtime between the last patch and the new expansion”

It does kind of feel like a lot of the open world event stuff has failed hard. I do like Forbidden Reach. Can’t even explain why.
Personally I can’t stand Zaralek Caverns, and loved forbidden reach. Guess I’ll wait until new expansions to try to solo the elite rares then.

A real shame that is the only valid option for most players since Blizzard refuses to re-scale Reach and Caverns, while fixing the issues with them.
Sadly there are certain bad actors that praise this is a great thing and lack any empathy for those that come after them.

I would disagree.
They did learn after SL. Dragonflight is them trying to change. Though how they handled the Reach, Citadel, and Caverns shows that they got work to do still.
