Well. the Kaldorei had what was termed a small kingdom when Azashara came into power, it seemed to be by inherence of the throne. I somewhat wonder if we lost some of the character of Azashara with cosmology changes. Back when the Arcane was corruptive and addictive it was arguable she had fallen pray to the well’s arcane energies as much as anyone else. Her earliest descriptions of intention in chronicle do not come across quite so power mad as she for sure became as her arcane power grew exponentially.

The only gameplay thing that might make them review pre-azashara history is if they decide to do something like detail the uplifting of the Trolls into the first Elves.

Oh no she didn’t.

More of a lateral lift.

Or a step backward.

You know I only think Azerite wasn’t turning Trolls into more Night Elves because Azerite was more like scabs than fresh flowing blood like the Well of Eternity was.

It really feels like what they are angling for yeah. Like the Protodrakes → Dragons trick the titans did. We know Kaldorei are her most favored creatures in the universe, and Chronicle was always rather sketchy on how being near the well makes such drastic changes to a creature. You do not just suddenly happen to have five fingers and toes like a titianforged unless someone intelligently makes the changes. The Zandalari lived among high energy titan facilities for thousands of years and they defiantly did not elfify . If anything it just distilled them into more troll-y trolls.

So yeah. I dunno what else to term it really.

Mutating, maybe. Uplifting has a lot of value judgement and baggage attached to it.

Remolding would also be less weighty.

Well, usually it’s the developers themselves who do it.

THe empire of Arathor broke apart before they took Amani lands. The original places was just Arathi and Alterac.

The map’s purpose was to indicate that Vrykul and Humans were living with Azshara’s empire, not whatever took place thousands of years after the Sundering.

Chronicle descript it as a “gift”,a shape fitting for their (dark trolls) gracefull spirit.

Nah.
Wyrmrest isn’t further away from Azjol Nerub than Shandaral is.

When did the humans become Humans?
When did they reach the Eastern Kingdoms?
Was it before or after Azshara fell?
Cause the Vrykul are situated near Ulduar, and she absolutely did not conquer that land.

Elune was directly involved in mutating trolls into night elves back in yon elder times. She didn’t – or couldn’t – mutate trolls during BFA.

I would have to agree with Treng on this part. It is VERY CLEAR that Elune played a large role in uplifting and changing the Dark Trolls who lived near the Well, into the form we all recognize today.

Because as already mentioned in this thread, Zandalar has hundreds of titan and other magical facilities alll over the place and they and their loa just got STRONGER for it, none of them actually changed into a entirely different race. :dracthyr_heart: :dracthyr_nod:

Mutation has an element of randomness associated with it that does not suit. Reshaping might be better. No evidence for it yet, but the most likely outcome I think might be “Remade in Elune’s Image”.

Working with what Charonicle says, I have a suspicion Elune WAS using the well’s power. Most likely she used it as a power source to wrought as extensive changes as she did, as well as forge a path strong enough to carry her (or at least an avatar) to be among the Kaldorei at night, passing back to wherever she normally lives during the day. Hence, the dark trolls thought she ‘slept’ in it as they did not grasp that caliber of magic yet.

It’s not free. It comes with a pricetag of lifelong service, and in some cases even longer with the Druids who spent millennia in the Emerald Dream. The format is just different as opposed to the Loa’s continued “bargaining”.

It’s demonstrated how even the Stormrage brothers, especially Malfurion were slow to come to the understanding that their beloved queen had betrayed them.

It’s my feeling that Azshara herself created the role when she set the Night Elves on a course of global imperialism. the way that Julius Caesar created the title of “Imperator” or Emperor as we know it even though he was murdered before he could actually have that title.

Surprisingly enough has been seen, diplomacy is not really and neve has been Tyrande’s strong suit. She gets by on her natural charisma, but it’s really Malfurion who works harder at it.

Worgen without magical balancing aid are monsters. They are werewolves and the classic versions of them are pure savage evil. That’s what you become in the opening quest series a ravening monster that’s first brought under control by alchemy and brought back in touch with your humanity by night elf magic… the same thing that got this curse grafted onto your people in the first place.

Trolls have been portrayed as a savage and primitive culture, I suspect in order to make the Tauren and especially Orcs appear that much more noble and civilised by comparison. When you first encounter them in the RTS and in early classic game play all you see are bamboo huts and superstition. While you get hints of of something more in the southern parts of the Eastern continent, the real reversal doesn’t’ happen until you see the Maeso cities of Northrend.

Except possibly for Azshara and Xavius.

Compared to Draenei, they’re now more “medium-lived”.

While that’s not likely to happen. We do know of Night Elves who have joined the priesthood of the Holy Light. One of them guards Uther’s tomb in the Plaguelands.

And the case hasn’t been made that revering both is a contradiction, but some may have come to prefer the more activist stances of the Light faith.

That’s not natural, that’s augmentation due to a Titan construct… not Elune who merely guided her pet tribe of trolls to settle there.

Because unlike the Light whose nature indicates otherwise, Elune is an actual personification, we’ve met her Avatared in Tyrande and she’s actually spoken to people. She’s been advertised through literal millennia of worship as the Mother of the Night Elves, their Twilight Warrior.

One might understand that this led to certain levels of expectation which kind of fell short in the War of Thorns and it’s conclusion.

That is denial of the reality of characters such as Xavius, Azshara, V’shasj, Sira, and Daelaryn. The last who quite clearly rejected the entirety of Night elf faith before she died. I’m pretty sure that her glance at the Maw completed her transition to nihilism.

Faction cooperation is supposed to be one of the themes of Dragonflight.

The scales of the maps are different. In the Ancient Kalimdor map the distances between Azjol-Nerub, Ulduar, and Shandaral are very different from what they were in the Northrend post-Sundering map. Blizzard did not have its designers make the maps precise, rather left them up to artistic renditions.

The Vrkul fought Kith’ix with Tyr at Tirisfal and were sending their Curse of Flesh affected children over there thousands of years before the Zandalari woke Kith’ix back up, with chasing Kith’ix being what lead the Amani to leave Zandalar and head north-east and form their own empire that Azshara’s Empire overtook after.

Elune was not involved in the Dark Trolls’ change into Night Elves. There is no lore reference that says she was. Elune only taught them Darnassian, which seems to be some sort of Titan dialect.

Malfurion did suggest working with the Orcs and Humans in Warcraft III, and turned out to have had the correct idea.

Nah.

Alright then it’s fair to say that Azshara (apparently) left them alone. Or… just didn’t find them worth recording when she didn’t. They weren’t threeish empires like the trolls were.

But on the other hand, there is ZERO lore saying that she DID NOT uplift the dark trolls or had a hand in their evolution.

No one other species, that I’m aware of anyway, changed into something entirely different. Only the Dark trolls living near the well did. :dracthyr_nod: :dracthyr_heart:

Unless you want to count some elementals changing into proto drakes over time. I suppose that could count. :dracthyr_nod:

Yah.

That would be headcanon territory again.
