In trying to figure out how my password got changed as well when I had an authenticator attached ot it. I would really like it if a G.M. could remove the too many attempts off of my account or just email me the password since i was obviously changed, This makes 2 changes in password 4 weeks.
There are no game masters here on the forums, I’m afraid. And I’m fairly sure that security is hard-coded, I don’t think a game master or anyone here could bypass that even if they wanted to.
You’ll want to use the Support link at the top of the page to get in touch with a GM, however. I’d suggest the Can’t Log In category under account.
The last reset I see is mid November, Kaosyn.
The too many attempts thing is a security feature. Supposed to fire off it too many login attempts with bad info have been received, that could be the password - or the auth code.
Lately we’ve seen reports of this triggering when that doesn’t appear to be the case, and that is being looked into. No real way around it, but it should drop off in about an hour.
This error message also appears to trigger based on your IP address, in my opinion. I had this same error message appear two days ago (12/28, at around 7:30 pm). Entering a “bogus” email address also causes this same message to appear. The only way an email address and password would be checked is if I changed out of the “Americas” domain to sign in. So it seems like your side is not even checking anything at all, but blocking any sign in request.
It’s also happening right now on my account. Last time, rebooting my computer, my router, and my modem had no effect. This same error message also appears when I attempt to sign into any battle.net game (WoW Classic, Diablo, etc.)
I’ve reviewed my security settings and sign ins and there appears to be no attempted sign ins and no login verifications on my battle.net authenticator.
While I suppose I could wait an hour (again) before signing in, it would be nice to have a more permanent fix so that I don’t have to deal with this issue every two days.
That is why they are looking into it Bitterman. Nobody wants players locked out of the account when there were no false login attempts.
Has there been a fix yet? It seemed to have stopped for me for about a month. But it is at it again.
I know that we were seeing a few similar posts back when this thread started in December, but I don’t think I’ve seen any recently. With an authenticator on the account (which it looks like you’ve got), these should be extremely minimal as long as your IP isn’t being changed randomly by something like a VPN.
I seem to still be experiencing this, or at least am again.
Is this still being looked into? Is it possible it has something to do with the launcher automatically trying to reconnect?
I ran into this bug this morning. I literally did not even try to log in, I just got the “You’ve been disconnected” as soon as I launched WoW. It was instant. Then I was kicked out of Bnet launcher and couldn’t log back getting the “You’ve made too many attempts” message when it was in fact my first and ONLY attempt. My authenticator did not say any attempts. FYI this is occurring on the newest rendition of Bnet launcher.
I use PIA VPN, but it is also using VPN bypass and both WoW and the launcher are set to bypess the VPN.
I just had the same thing. I was playing HS w a buddy, so I didn’t have my VPN on. Wanted to level this toon after, so I turned the VPN on to watch UK Netflix and it I got DCd from bnet and got too many attempts.
I have been trying to log into battle.net for hours wait an hour still saying too many attempts a second hour goes by still too many attempts this is getting ridiculous I’ve never had this much trouble and I’ve been using a VPN with wow for years
For some reason i had the same issue i only play on my desktop so never really log in anywhere and i got the same issue but after i connected my vpn it worked the vpn associated with my anti virus program.
I find it happens when I come back to my computer from sleep or a restart my guess it has something to do with a VPN (which I’ve had this VPN for a while without issue until now) but I would need to test it but it puts me way out of the mood for wanting to play when I have to keep waiting an hour to log in.
I have a authenticator on my account and I have one on my battle net email which is gmail it does the same thing as what blizzard does e.g sends txt of the removal of the authenticator
This is STILL an issue. I’ve asked BlizzardCS on Twitter about it a couple of times and I just get redirected to the support article. It happens to me about once a month and I would really like to know the technical reason why so I could try to avoid it happening in the first place.
