…You look for help in that zone by asking General, and get no response. You ask your guild and LookingForGroup and also get no response. What do you do?
Keep spamming until someone finally bites?
Come back later when you’ve outleveled it to try and solo it?
Whisper your friends and use the help you’ve given them in the past as leverage?
It’s something I’m genuinely having trouble with in Classic thus far and half of my log is filled with those same elite quests. I ask that question sincerely because beyond those options I just don’t know what else to do.
To be frank, I would not do the quest unless the reward was one of those massive power scale class items. Wasting time trying-to-but-not-getting-to-do quests is time spent not gaining EXP and gold, and that’s a waste (not to invoke the ORAS vocal mindset of “waste” because that mindset is hyper toxic). In some cases, my friend and I will come try again in six hours, or the next day, or et cetera, but usually we go and do something else (usually not related to a quest because you don’t have to focus on quests) and we’re several levels higher by the time the idea comes back around.
You might be surprised how much you just enjoy wandering about and killing a bunch of something and seeing what drops from it.
I should have included LookingForGroup as well. I post in that chat pretty regularly.
Ah yeah I’ve done that a bit too, in between spams. But I’m a massive OCD completionist and one of my Vanilla goals is to clear the board of all the quests in the game. xD
I would ultimately prefer to get as many of them done at exp-giving range as possible though.
In almost every case, asking on General works. When it doesn’t, I come back later and try again.
For example, I was in Badlands today asking on General if anyone had seen the ogre boss for the quest. No replies.
I ran around the zone and found him. I then mentioned on General that I was about to kill him for the quest (I wasn’t, it was 6 ogres lol) and immediately 2 people whispered to help.
Don’t give up. Go back to those zones and keep re-asking. If your guildees never help you, then maybe consider finding a better guild.
I do a quick /1 if i dont get a response i move on. Next time im nearby i ask again quick.
Do to the nature of questing in vanilla im always hopping back and forth between zones, so far ive had no issues getting group quests done, just need to keep trying , just dont linger on it too long, try again next time your in the zone.
Green quests are still worth doing. You have a wide level range to get it done.
I think the main issue is that a big portion of this guild is already 60 and busy doing all that good 60 stuff, and I was too slow in keeping up. I do wonder if perhaps I’m expecting too much from my guild because after all they’re players who want to enjoy the game too.
For sure, I’ve done a bunch when they’re green and for the most part soloable as a warlock.
They’re all worth keeping and doing. As mentioned I’m trying to clear the board of quests in the world.
Honestly, a lot of players dont look at chat while questing. Try running to the quest area to see if anyone else is already there. If so, they would probably appreciate the help.
If it’s an elite quest that I can’t get a group for- check the reward. If it’s really good, keep trying, if it’s vendor/xp- it’s better to move on than wait around. That, or keep doing other quests in the area and trying.
Just go there when other people are doing it, and party up. I’ve done 100% of these quests organically like that, rather than wasting time spamming people.
I’ll usually ask in gen chat if anyone else is doing the quest or in the area to help. If the quest is sharable then mentioning that you can share it sometimes gets people interested.
If no one is keen then do some other quests in the area and occasionally ask in gen if anyone wants to get ‘such and such’ quest done. Keep an eye out for others in the general vicinity. Sometimes if you offer someone help with a quest they’re on they will return the favour.
If all else fails then I hit up guildies or discord.
