And that’s totally cool. You’re correct in that one will eventually beat even the final endgame dungeons by getting every single piece of gear they can possibly get from it. They will even release the .5 sets eventually and give people a slight reason to go back, but even that will end.
So what then?
You either have the choice of jumping in on that ridiculous PvP grind, or navigating your server’s politics and getting into raiding guilds, assuming you have the RL time commitment to put into that raiding. And hopefully you’ll do good enough there socially to end up getting a Naxx clear.
I just prefer Retail because it gives me far more freedom to do what I want in the world. My last Classic experience involved sitting in front of an elite quest dude for an hour because no one wanted to help me kill him. And the future that awaited me after that? Another elite quest dude to kill in another zone somewhere that I would have to similarly beg for help on. That just got tiring after a while. But I did give it the ol’ college try, Retail just kept calling me back. xD
It got so bad that I had to ask the forums a while back for advice on getting those elite quests done, and the advice I got boiled down to “don’t do them”. That’s just kind of sad imo.
