You've destroyed Ranking & BG Premading for big groups - please give us SOMETHING

Blizzard.

When I heard about SoD I was endlessly excited - I quickly reconnected with all of my old pvp buddies and began planning what classes / races / servers I would play so that we could all compliment eachother in WSG and AB. I, like many others, make most of my in-game decisions based on what is going to be optimal in BGs. This is completely standard for MANY of the most dedicated classic players.

And I’m not exaggerating - I can literally show you screenshots of my DMs planning out WSG comps with friends and deciding on what I ended up leveling to 25 last phase. And we had a blast.

When P2 was about to release our conversations were packed with people saying “I can’t wait to run 15-man ABs with all the new players we’ve met - it’s going to be so much fun!”

But then you literally murdered queues for groups of people more than 5. Do you have ANY IDEA how long it takes us to get into a game? It’s practically impossible. 30 mins? More…much more.

I am not asking to be faced against pugs by the way. I don’t care about playing vs pugs as a premade - that’s a joke and not what we find fun. What we find fun are facing OTHER teams and playing lengthy BGs versus competitive opponents. THIS…THIS is why so many of us come to classic - and you have removed this from the game.

Your “fix” created just another big problem - and many of those people who I planned with and played with in phase 1 are quitting or have quit over the lack of pvp content for us. Blizzard - it’s a MASSIVE-MULTIPLAYER game. We have MORE THAN FOUR FRIENDS who we want to play with! Come on!!!

Now. Just this last weekend the crusader strike server hosted a WSG wargame tournament. Prepping for this and playing in this was easily some of the best content that many of the players have been able to enjoy in SoD so far. It was truly an awesome time. But wargaming isn’t the solution.

Give us RBGs. Give us a better premade queue system. Incentivize premades without cucking pugs…DO SOMETHING. USE BRAIN. ZUG ZUG.

It’s simple, people don’t like being slaughtered queueing solo because they are paired up against premades.

Now that premades are very likely to be paired with premades people don’t feel forced to join premades and are happy solo queueing. This means less premade groups queueing.

it would be cool if they added a team mode 15 vs 15 only based on a ranking system that give the winning team 3 rank points and losing team 1 rank point and as you climb the ladders it would keep it fun and exciting instead of a roll…

you would have the first week a slaughter fest but by week 2, you would not see a team rank of 100+ vs a team rank of 4 or something.

That would be a HUGE win and I would probably get into a dedicated group like that.

So… what you’re saying is:

You spent a good while planning on how to most ruthlessly and efficiently thrash BGs, making it completely unfun for the small groups/solo queue and have been inconvenienced by having to wait to fight other large coordinated groups.

(Evidently, the idea of having to fight other big coordinated groups with your big coordinated group is not nearly as popular as clowning on solo queues/small groups.)

Are we supposed to pity or applaud here. Instructions unclear.

Read the post. Premades are HAPPY to fight eachother. That’s what we want!!! But it needs to be better incentivized or more easily queued into so that it happens more regularly. Otherwise we queue as individual groups of 5 and come stomp pugs anyways. But that kinda sucks.

Classic design needs to put the MMO back into MMOs

The game doesn’t need to be designed to be perfectly competitive or balanced. And if targeting balance, it should be at massive scale anyway, making sure that certain glasses have their niche uses

The difference between phase 1 and phase 2 show how a couple of small design decisions can crash the populations

WSG phase 1 came with a simple carrot, epic BIS bracers for the next phase. Ashenvale went to revered, so grind out 100 more wins for exalted. Doing so, you will build your network and make a lot of friends along the way

Phase 2 flopped because they failed both in having any incentive structure, while also invalidating the BG by allowing the fastest way to get BG rep to be STV lumber, with zero limitation on how far is goes

I’ll take the unpopular opinion that not only our pre-made queues not a problem, they should be the default. For all other team content, we are expected to build a team before playing. I’m fine with the solo queue, but if they were going to make one decision or the other I would have rather they removed solo queue rather than breaking the group queue. Otherwise, they could follow the lead of most other games and have some type of hidden MMR — but this doesn’t make sense for an MMO.

I don’t know where the expectation of solo queue being the main way to play took hold in an MMO. We’d have been better off if they made five the minimum to queue instead of the maximum

There are plenty of MOBA or other competitive battleground games if people are looking for that

The idea is to play versus competitive teams in interesting matches. It’s extremely easy to thrash pugs even with only a few friends - that’s not our goal.

Which is exactly why those queues are bussin right? That’s cope. People wanted to premade just to pub stomp.

No they arent and this post along with the thousands of others crying about not being able to pugstomp with a stacked comp proves it.

Nevermind the fact that the premade queues are deader than fried chicken. Not a lot of enthusiasm from the former premaders to queue up against eachother knowingly.

You will get exactly zero sympathy here. This is the bad karma you and your kind have earned. You knowingly willingly happily and eagerly ruined half the game for the rest of the playerbase. You gloated about it and thought it was hilarious.

Now you expect pity, mercy and support? From the people whos enjoyment you happily ruined?

The audacity.

Then why are your queues so long?

if you read my post above the dedicated teams ranking system, that would solve all this bickering… plus its logical and makes sense keeping the matches fun.

I’m not concerned about the pug players coming in here and saying “hahaha now its your turn to be sad” — that’s to be expected. I understand your pain and going up against premades without a team is horrible. Totally get it.

What I’m talking about is that there needs to be content for people who want to premade vs premade. Simple as that. Nothing more nothing less.

Because people prefer to solo queue or duo/trio queue with a friend(s).

Horrible idea because it would gatekeep BG’s for people who don’t like to premade.

That’s like saying raids are gate kept because we don’t have LFR

It’s right there already.

You queue as a premade
They queue as a premade

You fight each other.

The reason that isn’t working is because

Is either just false, or applies to a very very small segment of the “Classic PvP Community.”

To where your queue waiting for another premade to want to fight your premade is 30 minutes or more.

Your argument is almost completely fine. The problem is that there needs to be a little more of a reason to queue. For instance: we had to rank in classic - so premades NEEDED to queue. Right now we don’t have that incentive.

Actually - we do have an incentive to queue (AB rep) - but because the queue for premades is horrible - people just don’t do it.

So just take a step back yourself - I hear you. Do you hear me?

:+1:

Phase 2 has no beer and pretzels gameplay.

No casual raid.

No casual world event.

No casual premades.

It’s all either sweaty, 5-man, or sweaty 5-man as in the case of STV. Fun guild nights don’t exist anymore.

If there was incentivized pvp (RBGs) I’m quite sure the queues would be fine.

If there was ranking (and it wasn’t more EFFICIENT to queue as 5) - I’m sure the queues would be fine.

So it’s a mixture of “we want to play vs eachother” and “we need to give people a bit of a nudge to do it”

If you understand human group psychology the above will make sense. If you don’t - you’ll just flame me.

The queues for premades wouldn’t be horrible if a lot of people wanted to play premade vs premade for the sake of the sport and the AB rep.

The long queue times for premade is direct evidence that premades wanting to fight other premades is a pretty small slice of the population.

I’m hearing you, are you hearing yourself?
