You're basically forced to ignore the lore

Good on them for doing so i shall say. :+1:

I also heard their even going to put chromie or somebody to talk to toggle between the new and old zones if that’s correct?

No, Chromie Time is basically just a clumsy toggle to allow us to continue to solo old group content at higher levels.

Rather than a return to old, I’d prefer to see some new and original ideas introduced. Only I would like these ideas not suck.

Every once in a while I see an old re-run of NYPD Blue, which is a 45 minute episode of television I saw once maybe 15 years ago.

I mention this because it is frequently the case that I will somehow still remember the minor plot line of a one time character who had a total of maybe four minutes screen time, ever.

That happens because the character was written and acted in a believable way, because they had unique aspects that were memorable, and because everything about them reinforced and was reinforced by the rest of the show’s world.

I am not story motivated per se, but given the hundreds (thousands?) of hours I have spent playing WoW, it would be nice if it had the same sort of almost “oh I met that person once” feeling about anything in its world, but I just don’t.

BfA might be particularly bad, but I don’t believe WoW has even been particularly good. Maybe for the people who found outside sources like books, etc. But going just from in-game content, very little of it lands for me. I’ve played 20 hour FPS campaigns where I cared and knew more about those characters than WoW’s.

Yes, for non new players, Chromie will allow you to pick your expansion.

New players will be put into a new starting zone, Exile’s Island, and then will be leveling in BfA zones.

Alts will be able to do either the new starter zone or the old racial starter zone and then will be able to pick any expansion to level in, using Chromie.

I agree. From a strictly in-game sense, lore is severely lacking. You really don’t learn much about what’s going on in the world from quests and such. The occasional cinematic or cut scene may elaborate some on specific storylines, but not enough for lore to be the motivating factor in playing.

Yes exactly

Eh I don’t have a problem with the current lore, but the way it is being presented is definitely bad.

game is for playing , books are for lore . thats how it is and how it should be

If you really want to care about the Lore being more accurate in WoW then the game would need to change into World of Starcraft.

We’ve had Spaceships, laser weapons, refineries turning Twisting Nether energy into usable fuel, multi-dimensional travel, orbital launch satellites and nukes since TBC / Cata.

Hunters, for example, shooting multi-dimensional beings of pure energy with a bow and arrow makes no sense. If you really want to follow the Lore then Hunters should be Space Marines.

Yup, that’s it guys. Let’s throw out the lore altogether. This is a game, we don’t need no stinkin’ story!

I mean… SPACESHIPS, dude.

This has been the case for a decade.

Welcome to the fold.

THANK YOU! And the raid times suck.

How did you feel about Legion OP?
Just asking. I didn’t play this game in its good-old times. Want to listen to your opinion on Legion’s storyline.

The wow story started off awesome and dramatic, and now it’s a Saturday morning cartoon for little kids a la the 60s through the 90s.

It really does suck OP, and you’re right. It’s sad, childish, shallow, and stupid.

But that’s life.

Too much retconning going on and lazy writing going on just because the plot demands it. So I lost interest.

You know you dropped the ball when players of an MMORPG don’t give a hoot about the lore. :pensive:

You’re describing every high fantasy universe to have ever existed.

Time was that the lore and storyline was kinda bad but the setting was good. Now that’s not the case so here we are.
