Your opinion on cross realm bgs?

Some people spoke about this a little bit on Twitch yesterday. Some people who rank and play the game for 16-20 hours a day. They play 16-20 hours a day and queue for WSG and AB. That’s what they enjoy doing in WoW.

How do you beat a group of 15 players who plays 16-20 hours a day? While you are at work. They’re playing. While you’re out, they’re playing. And when you finally come home. They destroy you.

They do this over and over again.

This has happened on private servers, says so on a few of the posts for Classic reddit.

These players make their faction the dominate faction because they play the game obsessively. So when you play for three hours a night after work and queue for a BG, you get stomped by them. You get stomped every game for three hours, because they are your only competition. Then you log off and you do it again and again.

Is that enjoyable to you? We’ve seen to some people it isn’t enjoyable. So they stop queueing. When they stop queueing, these no-life rankers don’t have BGs to satisfy them. What do they do next? They go hunting for honor. They gank flight paths. They make sure that they get their honor.

Is that what you want? To face the same premade of no-lifers every game? You’ll know them sure. But you won’t beat them. While you’re at work, they’re either in BGs, farming honor in the world, or they’re preparing. They’re getting consumables and engineering items. They’re preparing for every possible advantage over you. So when you return for your three hours of BGs, you will lose.

Then you start queue dodging the premade to try and find some pugs. What is the state of community when you’re actively avoiding the people you claimed you wanted to fight?

I hope when Classic hits and if we don’t have Cross-Realm BGs you never find yourself on a low population server on the wrong faction. You can’t quest. You can’t farm. You can’t call for help. Because for every 20 Horde players in Eastern Plaguelands, there is only one alliance player.

Then you will find yourself with high queue times and very little options besides server transfers.

I want everything that comes with having no CRBG’s, even the warts.

I do not say that because I was on the dominate faction in Vanilla. In fact, the opposite was true.

I spent far more than my fair share of time corpse running while leveling and playing on that PVP server with my friends. I still have characters on that server.

I did not choose a PVP server expecting “convenient” PVP.

I, and some of my friends, chose to roll characters on a PVE server for those times when wanted “convenient” PVP–when we wanted to be able to quest and have fun without worry of being ganked.

If you do not wish to be ganked, options exist for you to avoid that fate. If you are going to CHOOSE to play on a PVP server, then you should accept that it likely will not be convenient.

yeah, I would rather people reroll instead of forcing people who have healthy pvp tainted with cross realm groups.

Cross realm was introduced in anticipation of forthcoming tbc pvp changes that added a 4th bg and 3 arena brackets to the mix, all of which would f further divide a playerbase more than one server could handle reliably

You say that, but it was added in August 2006. Basically six months before any of those battlegrounds would be introduced. And it was added, because the PVP community was crying out for shorter queues on their battle grounds. It was the age where every PVPer was either rerolling or demanding a realm transfer, because “PVP is dead on " or " just steamrolls us”. Major population and faction imbalances were running rife as servers coalesced. So they came up with a solution.

You probably got Xrealm bgs in late vanilla simply because it was the only time they could be reliably tested and turned on /off without significant impact.

Or you know… they needed to fix a problem that Late Vanilla had.

I honestly don’t know. I possibility would be to have cross realm, but to give priority to your own realm, but the queue will only popup if say there is a certain percentage of your realm available for PvP. So say if there is less than 12 people waiting for AB from your realm, it won’t open a cross realm BG. But if there are say
13 people, the a cross realm BG will open up because there are only a couple people from another realm.
