I don’t recommend the Comet Empire remake though. It’s really bad.

Probably pokemon.

Weird, that’s almost exactly my story too.

Ninja Scroll. I really wasn’t old enough to watch it at the time.

I don’t remember which of these I saw first (it was probably Battle of the Planets) but I watched these every day after school growing up in the 1970’s.

Star Blazers remains my favorite anime to this day, though.

Star Blazers was also the source of “dogfighter” science fiction, which was then picked up by George Lucas in Star Wars and remains common in science fiction to this day.

The whole concept of space battles being World War 2 naval battles in space… that all comes from Star Blazers.

Here’s a link with timestamp for an example to the curious.

Yes, and I love it.

The captain’s decision on what to do on Gamilas, along with the music, made me cheer.

Ronin Warriors when I was a kid. At the time I didn’t realize it was anime.

It was The Little Koala or The Noozles.

8th Man back in the mid-60s. To me, it was an odd but captivating cartoon. I think Gigantor was on at the same time. Later on, Speed Racer.

Probably Dragon Ball Z or Digimon. I watched DBZ on purpose, Digimon was more of an “I have to sit at the neighbors while waiting for the bus in the morning” kinda thing.

As a more intentional “I’m gonna seek out anime” thing (because let’s be honest, that’s not how most of us ended up watching DBZ), I guess Evangeleon when a friend had a few of us watch it together?

Hated it. Hated the 2 movies I watched in the same time period too (Paprika and King of Thorn). Those 3 in a row put me off the medium entirely for a few years.

Gave Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood a chance way later and loved it, and have been following a couple shows per week if not more since then (although I fully acknowledge some of the shows I end up sticking with just to have something to watch are garbage).

Dragonball, but then the first real anime I watched was Death Note.

Getter Robo G, on Showtime, sometime around 1980. I don’t remember the exact year, because I was a kid. I didn’t even find out the name of the series until MUCH later, because the dub absolutely butchered it, not only did they change everything including all the character names, they even changed the name of the show, to something so dumb I don’t even remember it.

Voltron was my first.

Hmm… I believe… Soul Eater! Good stuff, watched it when I was a wee kid.

Fist of the North Star

Dragon ball and all the series of them there after.

Yeah I’m familiar with that…the dub broke that show so much. I didn’t realize at the time how much, because I was a kid when I saw it. But then I saw a fansub of Beast King Golion, and it’s MUCH better. And more violent. I HATE it when dubs change the name and plot of a show. I honestly don’t even like it when they change character names. The first GOOD English dub I saw of an anime was Martian Successor Nadesico. And then the DBZ DVD re-dub around 2007 (correcting all the stupid censorship issues). Amusingly, that is the only way I have ever watched DBZ…the original dub was so bad I couldn’t stand more than about 5 seconds. So I have only ever heard Mr Satan, called Mr Satan, not the dumb name people refer to him as.

Technically would be pokemon as a little girl but it was just on t.v before school and although I watched it every morning etc it isn’t like I watched the entire series (the amount of episodes of that is insane lol)

So then the first proper anime I watched was Death Note as a teen and fell in love with Japan and anime from that <3

My fav animes are Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, MHA and Tokyo Ghoul.

The best dub I’ve seen is the Ghost Stories dub… which is 100% different and is absolutely hilarious
