Hi, I’m looking for some suggestions. Throughout my couple of months trying to enjoy this expansion, I find myself getting to Bastion and just leveling another toon to 50. I want to get to 60, but I just get bored and log off when I play SL content.
Are there any alternative methods? I like to level in WoD purely with Bonus Objectives while treasure hunting. Is there any other way outside of questing? Is dungeon spamming my only other option?
Thanks
Is this your first char to reach 60? If not, you can take the Threads of Fate route and skip Bastian. I HATE Bastian to level in. I always save it for last in case I need to finish off a level.
I do Revendreth, Mald, then Ard… Then some Torghast if I feel like it, then deal with Bastian to finish out 60.
If it’s your first 60 and you HAVE to follow the storyline, my advice is just bullet through it so you can enjoy the game again. I took a long break myself after I got into Bastian back when SL released. I hated the Maw, I hated Bastian. But Once I got through Bastian I started enjoying myself again.
Alternatively, start a new alt if you get totally disgusted with SL so your wow time isn’t all SL.

Wait for Dragonflight.
Honestly, I’ve never thought of another way because it has got to to be the single easiest and fastest top 10 levels you can possibly imagine. You’ll have flying unlocked from the start. I just swoop in, finish quest objectives and pick up treasures, go to the next zone. I would go 50-60 in two afternoons. And that’s levelling like a normal person.
Unimmersive, sure. But if you just knock it out you can go to what you wanted to do in the first place - level another covenant
Best part, no shadowlands content! You only have to do that once you hit 60. Shadowlands has it’s annoyances, but zipping through a levelling zone isn’t the worst.
But, um, if you don’t want to do it don’t. Seriously, there’s nothing anyone can do to tell you that you really do want to level yet another toon. If you don’t want to level but push through it anyway, you have a sickness. At 15K achieves - do something else. There isn’t that much more to do in WoW.

Wait for a timewalking week and then just do timewalking dungeons all the way to level 60. You could even build a timewalking twink set with OP items from previous expansions if that would make it more fun; then you wouldn’t have to upgrade your gear. I think next week is TBC timewalking which means even stuff from like ICC should be good.
I don’t necessarily recommend this if you need renown because TW dungeons don’t give it, but if you really dislike leveling through SL then it’s probably one of the best options

You can easily hit 50-60 in a few hours.
There’s a YouTube dude who does a couple speed run videos when it comes to leveling (with mats and from scratch).
His name is Harldan. Not the best player by any means…but gives you an idea at how to possibly maximize your time leveling.
I’m one of those players that has one character per spec…so a TON of characters on a single server. I don’t play them all equally and very much take my time doing whatever…but I find it fun.
Since I play this game to chill and wind down–having a mountain of toons let’s me pretty much just click on whatever and zone out.

Thanks for the response. I have a 57 that’s in Ardenweald I think. I just hate all the larp pauses and onrails type story quests. If I wanted to do that, I’d go play Endwalker where it’s done in a way that keeps me interested. I just want to get to 60 to run LFR and BGs. I’m really casual in this game these days as all the mandatory grinds really turned me off since Legion.

I second time walking. Especially if that character is a tank, you can have a blast with TW and some BfA azerite gear.
Had nearly back to back dungeons all the way to 60.

I have 15k achievements because I’ve been playing off and on since 2004. It just sort of happened in its own. I used to play a lot from classic to mop. After that I just started playing the last patch of expansions to avoid all the time gated stuff. Thank you for your advice though. I’ll take it in to consideration.
If BGs are one of the things you want to do at max level you should consider just doing BGs to level because you’re going to need a lot of honor points anyway, so it makes sense to do even if it isn’t the most efficient way to get XP. You’ll be able to hit the ground running at least a little bit. PvP as a fresh 60 can be extremely rough these days
Dungeons. level 60 has Callings getting end game players in those dungeons, so I think the queues aren’t terrible? And doesn’t take long (but I almost exclusively tank, so maybe privilege there)
Torghast is an option
time walking is often the fastest route if you are a tank or have a pocket tank.

It’s hard if you mainly level by questing like I do. I agree completely that Shadowlands zone’s are boring. Except probably Revendreth.
Levelling by dungeons is more bearable. Battleground queues are a bit long I found even as Alliance.
I actually quite enjoyed BFA and really enjoy leveling in Kul Tiras and Zandalar. Sadly at 50 blizzard absolutely chops exp gained for BFA but, if you don’t mind doing it a bit slower you could stick to leveling there. Aim for achieves, reps and work on Mechagon and Nazjatar if you haven’t already. I also enjoy herbalism and alchemy and picking herbs still gives some nice exp.
I have a dwarf hunter nearly at 52 so far. I cannot stand SL leveling! Completely puts me off as soon as I get there so I’m changing it up! I too kept on leveling characters to 50 and starting over.
The game should be fun, not tedious. Best of luck mate!

I miss the days when you could sync with a low player and level using low level zones. I loved going through those old zone. There was a lot of great storylines. : /
I found the best way in SL to do that thread of fate thing and do a mix of world quests/dungeons. Pretty quick. – BTW, stay away from Bonus Objectives. They wrecked those so they are more annoying than they are helpful.

Same but you have to complete the story if you want to unlock level 60 stuff. Unless they changed it, if you don’t complete the story at least once on your account you don’t get to pick a covenant and things like that. Also threads of fate is a lot more manageable than story once you unlock that
I’d power through the story on your 57, hit 60, unlock threads of fate then level whatever else that way

Bonus objectives were improved in 9.1.5; they no longer take forever to complete, and they give a ton XP and are also guaranteed to give renown

It’s bad. One thing I’ve never had an issue with in this game is leveling. It’s one of my favorite parts. Even the worst expansion, by majority opinion, had great leveling. It’s like they tried to draw from FF14’s story quest style, but completely botched it.
I’m hoping this expansion gets better after that, but I haven’t seen much positivity so far.

That’s good to hear. I did one pre-9.1.5 and it was such a waste of my time.
