I capped a priest a little bit each day by doing mostly torghast. It’s a ridiculous environment and I could shut my brain off and watch stuff on the side. I did have to do a few quests and dungeons though.

That’s good news. I don’t know what renown is, but it sounds like I’ll need it for something.

That’s exactly how I feel. I hate that they tried to do a ffxiv and make you follow the story. I liked how wow was always, “get to level cap then jump on in end game activities”.
The story was so bland in SL too. Each new zone was the same thing. “We’re running low on anima help us” 
I think this is why I liked BFA a lot more. Each zone had a unique story with tonnes of side quests that unlocked little things like pets etc.
I’d level in dungeons (I actually don’t like SL dungeons either 
) or stick to BFA and time walking if you can. It’s much slower but, I’m freaking enjoying myself and I know I’d drop the hunter if I moved into SL.

Buy a boost. That’s my “fun” way of leveling.
The gear is crap. The bags are crap. I don’t care. I just don’t like the whole “learn how to play your class - but without most of your abilities for most of the time” nonsense that Blizzard thinks is “helpful.”

I leveled 20 characters in Legion, 32 characters in BFA, and 6… 6 characters in Shadowlands, I can’t get myself to level another character in this expansion.

Just resolve yourself to not enjoying the storyline. If you didn’t like Ardenweald the rest is total garbage. Mute the audio. Throw on your favorite podcast or favorite musician and just follow dots and circles on your minimap to collect and kill your way to 60. 9 times out of 10 that is all a quest will require. Rarely do you actually need to read directions.

I agree.
They should give us every single ability from level 1, and have a few introductory quests that teach us how to use them.
They can super easily scale the damage/healing per level.
If it’s your first time, doing the main storyline quests is pretty much mandatory.

I can beat your 6. I’ve only got my hunter and pally to 60. I tried a third doing that threads of fate thing but even that was a chore. All those fill up a bar quests seem to take forever. Like you needed to kill 50 things to fill it I just gave up.

Spam timewalking when it’s up, XP per hour is really good. Even more so if you can tank or heal queue. When its not up, I’ve just been doing a quick Threads-mode Torghast daily. Gives around 110k XP for very minimal time investment.
Plus you can get an early start on Box of Many Things while you are at it - and Renown.

I generally spam dungeons. I much prefer doing TW dungeons.
If you have an herbalist or miner, leveling mainly just through that (I don’t mind some bonus objectives) is always possible. Very relaxing way to level.

Do you have gatherers? I’ve got characters to max level who made tons of gold in the process without even doing a lot of the campaign quests. I just gather mats and do the easy world quests. Max level and renown happens quite quickly, especially if you keep alt hopping to maintain rested XP.

Yep. I would probably pay to boost my entire full stable of alts if boost was $10 each.
But $80… yeah nah.
Do story till level 57, then switch to fate, use the catch up 40 renown item and run around collecting all the bonus objectives for renown. Maybe not the most fun, but i think its the fastest way.
