You want me to level the same character twice?

This is what I will have to do if I want to play Joyson on both TBC and Vanilla… according to the TBC leaks…

  • Choose Your Era – Prior to Burning Crusade Classic’s release, WoW Classic players can decide whether to advance each of their characters to the Burning Crusade era with the rest of their realm, or to continue playing the original WoW Classic content on new Classic Era servers.

I think we just need clarification on what this actually means. It’s honestly vague.

Not sure how this is being misread or confusing for some. You stay and go to TBC, or you don’t and go to a vanilla server.

If they do a COPY, arguably I would still have to level twice. For example, if I have a level 42 toon, I would have to level it from 42 to 60 on Vanilla, and again from 42 to 70 on TBC.

Maybe the proposed system is fine IF they allow us to transfer to TBC at a later point in time to allow us to finish everything we want to accomplish in Vanilla.

This is getting ridiculous.

Some want to Progress to TBC
Some want to stay in Vanilla
Some want a fresh TBC experience with all players starting at level 1
And apparently now someone wants to have the same character on both Vanilla and TBC.

Blizzard won’t do all the different things people want. They will do what they do, and we will either accept it, or move on to something else.

If you have level 42 toons now, you have plenty of time to level it to 60 before you’re asked to make the decision.

At face value, nothing. But if you are running a company, there are too many options people are asking for.

If you try to be everything to everyone, you will inevitably become hated by everyone.

There are down sides both financially, and population health to appeasing all of these different options.

Personally, I don’t see a huge problem with them making us choose. It’s an RPG at the end of the day. Cloning characters is not really RPG-like.

You want to clone your character so one can move on and the other stop leveling. What you’re asking for is a free level 60 twink. That’s exactly what everyone who wants a twink wants. People would love to clone their character at 19, 29, 39 etc. and keep it there while the character moves on rather than releveling the character. Move the character through the game while leaving a clone of it behind at the top of each bg level. Since I don’t do bgs I don’t really care but it doesn’t really seem fair to those who spent the time leveling up an alt to create their twink

I want to play TBC but I wouldn’t mind a snapshot to come back to a play around with from time to time. I understand that the hardware and technical limitions would make it cumbersome and costly so I dont have my hopes up, but it would be a pleasant suprise if they did.

For one, Server capacity. That costs money. You now have a character slot taken up in two locations rather than 1. Consider it like storage on your phone. You fill up your storage space with pictures on your phone, but you want to have it on a second phone as well. Now you pay for two phones.

As to the population health it makes sense to condense all players into a few servers as possible so there are more active players at any given time. The more servers, and different version (PvE, PvP, and RP), the more divided the player base is. Which would make getting groups together quite difficult.

You want your cake and to eat it to? Why should you get two characters? It’s like Blizzard adding a Copy button to TBC so you can copy a character whenever you want. That way you don’t need to level a prot paladin, you can have a holy paladin and a prot paladin, shouldn’t have to level the same class twice.

I dont particularly love it but it makes sense. There has never been another time where you could have the same character on 2 live servers, and it’s the easiest way to prevent duplicating items/gold which would ruin the economy of the receiving side. Also the easiest way to balance population on the classic side
