You shouldn’t sign up to tank a tribute run if you don’t know how to do it

Had two groups over the weekend where the tanks had no idea how to skip the bosses, didn’t know about the trap or the ogre suit even.

Of course, both were paladins as well. Not sure why people insist on playing this awful class/role combination in DM North no less, while they don’t even know how to exactly do the run.

Everyone in the run should know how to do it. I would also say that the person who supplies the needed items gets dibs on non-gear piece chest items.

Dont hate the class/spec because of some players. I have an endless list of mages that dont sheep, spell interupt, supply water to healers, use aoe abilities on single mobs/ cc’d targets or even buff int.

I heard tribute runs were good for gold and such and yet I never see groups doing them.

Are you venting or… ? Some kind of PSA?

and you’re imagining that people who don’t know how to tank a tribute run are avid readers of the forums?

How are people supposed to learn though? Most people just want to play and do not want to have to study for a game.

Sigh.

Okay, so I have seen enough posts like this on the Classic GD now that I’m gonna call total shenanigans every SINGLE time someone drags the “retail players aren’t nice/don’t take time/don’t help each other” canard out.

Stop.

New guy didn’t know the things b/c he’s never done it. How ever will we recover from the frustration? I dunno…maybe tell him how it works? Boom. Now he knows for next time and the knowledge will spread.

If you tell him to go to a 3rd party site and watch a video before he does new-to-him content, then you never ever – not ever – get to complain about “retail mentality” ever again.

Like seriously…classic card officially revoked.

Paladins should have no problem tanking this dungeon, nothing drops aggro and the worst part is the lack of range pull on some packs. This is the same as saying fury warriors are bad at tanking because 2 messed up 2 of your dungeons.

If they led the group, then shame on them. If they were brought along and tje leader didnt make sure they had mats, then shame on them. If you know the pulls and they clearly didnt, why didnt you step up to help? Its not your job but new players gotta start somewhere.

Funny thing is, a paladin, a 2nd rezzer and a rogue could be all that you need to do DMN full tribute and no mats. Rogue opens doors, the whole party sneaks past 3rd ogre guard while rogue uses distract. On kromkrush, you should be able to bubble pull and run outside to the right, DI the 2nd rezzer and let the whole party die. Rez the dead and finish. No suit, no trap (unless something changed, its been a while since i last did it.)

And these some players will then wonder why nobody wants to be a tank in Classic.

I just want to press Blizzard and then get all the loot. It’s the tank’s job to actually learn all the mechanics and take all the responsibility.

I’m surprised you found groups that wanted to run tribute??
Just tip the hunter and move along sir.

This, :100:

Teach them maybe?

You joined two groups and skipped two opportunities to teach someone who doesn’t know your preferred way to do a Tribute run how to do it. Instead of telling them you came here to complain about it.

I refuse to be some nub tank’s guinea pig who wants to ‘learn.’ That’s nice. i don’t have time for that BS.

If you’re a green tank and want to “learn.” Then make a group with other “learners” so you can “learn” together.

This might be a hot take, but not everyone knows how to do everything. You should be thankful you have a tank at all with the severe lack of tanks anyways. Normally an MMO you would have enough patience to simply guide a new person to the right way but in 2025 you choose to be selfish and demand everyone know everything before attempting it.

Just another bad take from a classic andy.

Classic Andy’s are not mean in my experience. Retail on the other hand…

My experience is that the overwhelming majority of wow players are not nice and are selfish. They have to make an exception to be nice to people who they need for something.

Well aren’t you a ray of sunshine. I came in during the TBC Era and have never done a “tribute run”. Hopefully I don’t run into too many people like you.:roll_eyes::roll_eyes:
