I don’t know if it was a thing in US servers but in Europe servers, time to time, you could see a GM as usually a giant in front of Orgrimmar or in Barrens. I don’t know if it was the case with every server, but in Sunstrider I saw it happening a couple times during vanilla.
Did you ever see any of them? I don’t think it is a thing anymore but do you think seeing a GM once a year, let’s say in Oribos or somewhere, would impact the player experience in a negative way?
I also played on EU first and in 13 years of wow I’ve never seen one but I would love to. It would be fun to see them time to time I think.
Also once in EPL I saw something flying very fast on something like a flying stick, I was able to target it, it had a very specific name, I remember Google’ing it, and apparently it was a thing, there were entries about the same name. I was quite surprised considering the info wasn’t out there like today.
Rumor has it an evil genius hacker has trapped all the GMs in that empty room/prison cell on GM island… good riddance!
Most I ever saw was them messaging us in game, but never saw them actually spawn from what I remember.
Seen videos of it though.
Stuff like this adds so much flavor to the game. It’s a shame they won’t allow them to do it anymore.
Heck, let them, and have them moderate.
I remember when they’d personally speak with me and not give me an automated message telling me they can’t help me or try wowhead…

Once had a GM show up in Ulduar to fix an issue, the hands on approach back then was truly awesome.
Yep, I remember it several times. But those days are long, long gone. My latest ticket took 9 days and it got resolved several times with it being pretty obvious a person never looked at it.
I’ve seen more chupacabras than GMs
Haven’t seen it in WoW…but in Asheron’s Call II, GMs could call forth a giant monster at random times for players to kill and get some rewards (huge butcher/skin hauls, and gold). Was a ton of fun. They also had a few bonus loot weekends/weeks in the year where you could get a buff that would dramatically increase your luck for gold, gear, and other valuables when killing mobs.
Would be nice if GMs had the ability to do things like that once in a while for the players here.
They have been “invisible” (basically regular players who can toggle visible or not) for quite some time. I do think it would be nice for us to see them once in a while though, it gives a greater sense of security, hope, and value to see GMs in games.
as long as they aren’t blatantly abusing power, which almost always only happens in smaller games where there are only a few people on the entire dev team.

there’s a quest which lets you fly from one tower to another… most people probably wouldn’t bother questing far enough to ever encounter the quest.
The only encounter I had with a GM was recently through whispers. No automated messages. Got some help, wished each other happy holidays, and that was it. Seemed nice 
Seen GMs in game a couple of times going as far back as 2005.
Usually in their little blue outfit but race appearance differs.
I wish Blizz had a cadre of folks that would pop in on different servers unannounced to hold little mini events with quests and rewards.
EQ GM events I miss you.
i miss when they used to pop into trade chat and warn people to watch their language…
and then the heroes choosing to respond to with strings of vulgarities would get booted offline one at a time. 
ahhh those were the days.
They still do, occasionally, if they have to see the situation in person. Otherwise, they are on a chat system.
They tend to draw a crowd so they stay invisible.
I remember seeing GMs in EverQuest all the time. Never seen one in WoW.
I think that’s a shame.
I think you are talking about that quest that flies you to EPL from Wintergrasp? Yeah I remember that one, actually I even remember thinking that quest was going to me an epic because I had read something like that on thottbot :).

i don’t recall anything similar to this.
but there was an EPL quest which would take players on a ride on a spectral gryphon between 2 towers
i did have a screenshot of it… but i’m too full of spaghetti to go searching.
