Define a “core” change because anniversary sure has some major changes.
As someone who fought for the integrity of classic for years, I want changes to classic. But I only want changes that are aligned with the philosophy of classic. Most of changes ppl are asking in these forums are not. Dual spec isn’t aligned with the philosophy of classic. SoD isn’t not aligned with the philosophy of classic.
Personally, I don’t think the class balance of 1.12.1 is what made Vanilla feel the way it did. If you think this is the case, then by that reasoning 1.10 or any other 1.x patch wasn’t “true” “Classic” Vanilla.
I’d argue that specific things such as small, gradual class balance changes may make Classic feel more like Vanilla because it will disrupt the current, very well known meta. Players may begin to just play what they like rather than whatever they know is most “OP” since they know things are likely to change.
The thing is that the meta is good.
Players that have been playing vanilla for decades love the meta because there is always room to improve. The skill cap in vanilla is really high in both pve and pvp.
Changing things is likely to reduce the overall depth of the game.
Funny, the only thread i see on this forum that’s current is “how to fix ret paladin” and it says, “play a warrior”. Ret is broken in this version of the game though. But all the goofy-goobers say it’s fine and working as intended because everything in 2006 wow was perfect with no impurities.
People want class balance. Not completely overhauling how a class works. The two are NOT the same.
It isn’t broken. Each class and spec has their own purpose and viability, and we’re not just referring to raiding. 5 warriors cannot defeat a group consisting of a Paladin or Priest. Most people only view it in terms of raiding and “1v1 PVP”, not never group PVP content.
Stop trying to move goal posts.
But all the goofy-goobers say it’s bad and not working as intended because everything in 2024 wow has to be S tier OP with no faults.
No, no, no. You don’t understand. Vanilla is unbalanced and solved and unbalanced and solved.
In 2019 people were asking for natural progression vanilla server, that emulated blizz’s balance patches. Some private servers did, even on a 1.12 client.
#Bringbackpre1.4epicmounts.
People don’t want novel retailesque balancing, look how bad the current expansion is in terms of balancing. You are having classes swinging +/-15 positions on a regular basis in terms of performance.
Here is an example that is less than a month old…
