You like money, and i like content. Lets do business

Blizzard doesn’t want your money for flying.

They don’t want anything you have for flying.

They don’t want you to have flying at all.

Wrath was one of their biggest and most popular xpacks and it was designed with flying in mind, however the devs came away from that describing how hard it was to design with flying in the game.

A few expansions later we arrive at Mists and a new wave of “but its haaaard” about designing with flight in mind.

Selling management on the cost savings of cutting out flight was probably easy. Just think of it, we can make like half the content and just run the players around mountain and hill and stuff. It will be like those lines at the DMV that just weave around and around. If they don’t have flight we can lock them down forever.

When Warlords blew up in their faces and they had to add flying back in they had to keep the original intent intact. They had to make sure you did not have flying for any part of the expansion that could be useful. Because if you did, the cheap little sideshow would be over.

There is no way that you will get flight at any point where it could possibly short circuit their “pad the metric” game. They are fully invested into psychological conmanship, into running you around in circles.

pared down abilities, tiny content worlds, no class flavor, time gated rep grinds, no flying, and running the same rat-maze every day for a long as possible.

That’s what you have purchased, and that’s all they will sell you
