"You haven't collected this appearance", Well I'd Like to

Hello everyone,

I’ve recently gotten into WoW. I’m currently playing as a level 36 Pandaren Hunter and having a great time. Throughout the game, I’ve looted and equipped various items, however it seems that only weapons and back items have been added to my collection of appearances. Despite the fact that I have equipped many pieces of leather armor, every single one will say “You haven’t collected this appearance” from the moment I add them to my inventory to the time I sell them to a vendor. I’d like to collect them, or at the very least understand how this system works. It’s kinda frustrating and I can’t find any clear answers online as to why this is the case. So I’m asking, how do I add these appearances to my collection? And if I can’t, why not?

Thanks, gamers c:

You can only collect appearances that are of usable gear types to your class. Even though you can’t use Mail gear until 40, that’s the only gear that you get xmogs for, so until 40 you’ll only collect bows, crossbows, guns, and cloaks, I believe.

I see, that makes sense. So even though I can wear leather armor, it’s not considered my class’ armor type?

Thanks for replying c:

I’m not positive, but those leather items may be available to any leather wearers you level up later.

I cant say for sure, but I think its anything your character can equip when you pick it up…

As long as its not class specific and its been equipped on that toon all your other toons that can transmog that armor “proficiency”.Thats how the game reads items shared across your account for transmog. If your rogue equips shadowcraft spaulders then your alt druid or monk will be able to veiw it on the list of transmogs as well.

This is how it is supposed to work and how it worked in retail.

However, in Classic, Ellafont is correct. Only your class’s ‘permanent’ armor type can contribute to your transmog collection. Any class that upgrades armor (hunter, shaman, warrior, paladin, off the top of my head) will not be able to collect appearances for their initial armor type.

ok, that is kinda annoying.

Wait… I picked a staff up when leveling a rogue and thought it was strange that I saw the “learned this apearance” mesage.

so now I dont know WTH is going on.

Was it a quest reward?

Quests reward every appearance that the quest can reward that your class is eligible for, even if you didn’t pick it or if you weren’t offered the option (for example, a rogue won’t be offered the choice to pick a caster dagger from MoP quests, but you’ll get the appearance for that dagger).

So it might have been for a non-staff theoretical quest reward.

was the staff from the temple of the jade serpent I think that’s the temple… Dungeon, was the drop off the end boss.

Well that’s weird, as far as I know you shouldn’t have gotten that appearance for looting it on a rogue.

Wouldn’t surprise me if it’s just bugged.

I was actually very surprised, I thought you could only get things for stuff you can actually equip. (as I remember it)

Seeing how full of bugs Classic Progression is, does not surprise me tho.

I wish they would drop the whole line of BS about “Balancing” for PVE and put a 107% effort into quality…

Quality is sooooo important and I know that some corporate don’t see it this way, but what they’re failing to understand is that quality actually sells because when people talk about a game that they love… the last thing they want to be forced to admit to their friends is that its full of bugs and busted stuff.

OG MOP had some bugs, but this is a whole new level.

example, OG mop I was never able to vanish out of the vendetta debuff, but here I can 100% vanish it clean off. Tons of dumb stuff like this. Little bastard trees follow me past vanish tho… This was never a thing before… So many little dumb things, and really it should not be this way or this bad. Stealth in this version (not even in combat or near it) Randomly breaks for no reason; this is not an issue in Vanilla Classic at all on my druid or rogue.

Soooo many busted little things that need to be taken care of.

I am sure the Classic team is full of nice people, and they’re great folks but they desperately need some programmers oh so bad; its a most unfortunate situation.
