The books are awful too. Itâs like a dragged version of something lame happening within a few quest lines.
Thatâs not coherent storytelling if you need to watch someone on YouTube to break down the plot and attempt to make sense of it. Good writers know how to work within their medium.
I believe thatâs why a lot of people are upset with BfA and Shadowlands lore.
Speaking of books I should read more of the gotrek and Felix ____slayer books.
The only warcraft book was the one with rhonin⊠day of the dragon?
good writers or not , nobody reads quests anyway , they just need to make more cinematics imo
Books should be an extension of the gameâs lore.
Not the source of it.
Yes, Blizzard has for most of the life of WoW, put an abundant amount of lore in the books published outside of the game. However, I never had a hard time to follow along with the amount of the story that the game itself provides without the books.
I donât mind that WoW doesnât have 30-minute-long movies in it, just to explain 30 minutes of game play lore. Like some other MMOâs.
People who are discontent with the game will complain about everything the story in the game and the story outside of the game in the books because 1 they themselves couldnât write and be published if their life depended on it. 2 they couldnât run or even work for a gaming company because their total lack of ability to even manage handing out burgers at McDonnalds.
That is the MOST wow player quote I have ever read.
Itâs kinda sad how an already âehâ lore team got way worse after metzen left.
Did a YouTuber kill your family or something? What is with this weird anti-videomaker obsession?
If the gameâs story doesnât give you all you need to know then itâs a poorly written and bad story.
I tried a Buffalo meat burger I saw on cooking with jack⊠my whole family is no more.
Some have quit doing WoW content and a few others seemed burned out. Lately a theyâve been talking down on the lore.
Regardless, the FULL 100% fleshed out story needs to be done in game in a way that the player can enjoy it. Shouldnât have to go 3rd party or buy books to get info. The design of WoW is to try to get you to buy multiple media types. However, itâs done so poorly and with so many retcons that itâs a miracle the Youtubers can even follow it.
What else do I âneedâ to know?
SLs bad guy works with Sylvanas to capture our leaders. We need to rescue them and stop the bad guy. We meet interesting people that help us along the way.
What else do we need to justify killing thousands of enemies?
Well itâs clear you donât care about a well crafted story. Wowâs the perfect game for you. Just go and kill things.
oh no totesmlotes is here
The You Tubers hijacked a plane my wife and little baby daughter were on. Just for clicks. They crashed the plane into a mountain, because they thought they learned how to fly a plane from a you tube video - but they were mistaken.
I donât like to talk about it.
Actually, I watch some of Hazelâs boss guides and round ups. And T and E. And Nobbel. But I take it for what it is - fan made content with an opinion. I donât pretend it is a new gospel.
The story is falling into bad Hollywood tropes. Jaina back was sore from carrying a team. thrall who was a freakin gladiator threw his weapon away, and baine was as useful as square wheels on a car.
Thatâs been my point for all my posts in this thread. Gonna guess most of the people who play WoW donât care about loreâŠ
So wasting time baking it into the game is a waste of development time
Sure, because wow is in such a good state right now. The only thing wow has left is the infinite grind/treadmill/hamster wheel.
Enjoy it.
Sure, because wow is in such a good state right now.
Right now? The writing in WoW always been horrible and followed the same basic pattern.
The only reason that it felt reasonably acceptable in the early game/expansions is because players already knew the lore fromâŠgasp other sources, e.g. the Warcraft games
