On every alt that I am not gearing up I see this little red popup every so often that says “You can’t do that yet”. I imagine it’s just because the old gear and they didn’t do something right when deprecating the gear… but I don’t think it’s going to motivate me to play anything more than my mage. These alts are just doing crafting and gathering.
Maybe they can just around nekked lol 
This appears to be connected to some profession tools.
There’s been a bug thread for it going for awhile now
"You can't do that yet" appears constantly after the patch
The TLDR. So far looks to be a bug with Inscription crafted profession tools. Primarily the rolling pins and the quills (both DF and TWW). Try unequiping them and see if that fixes it. If so, may need to craft a new one as it so far looks to be a problem with ones made before the bug began.
Oh no! My plans to run around nekked with just crafting / gathering gear will be foiled!
Oh! Thanks for the tip on the tools. I’ll give it a shot and see what happens. It would make sense why I don’t see it on my mage then… alchemist / herbalist.
Are you talking about Classic or Retail? I just created a new Pally in Classic Cat and when I was sent to the Trainer to pick up “Judgment” the same thing happened. The icon is dim and is says “You can’t do that yet”. It says you have to be level 3. I’m above that but it still doesn’t work.
Retail. I mean just existing in Dornogal will every 30 or 60 seconds or so pop up a little red text that will fade out then pop up again after a bit.
Yeah, pretty much guaranteed to be an inscription created profession tool (rolling pin, quill or mixing rod) made between TWW pre-launch a and now. So far that seems to be the culprit everyone is identifying in the thread I linked above.

I don’t get that, but every toon I have I get ‘You’re doing that too fast’ almost every time they enter a zone, whether that’s porting in, hearthing, zoning into a dungeon, or simply walking across zone boundaries. It’ll list ‘you’re doing that too fast’ 2-3 times in a row. And doesn’t seem to be profession tool related, as this happens on characters that don’t even have professions yet.
Sure enough, after unequipping my cooking pin from Dragonlands everything has been totally fine.
