Blizzard has so much experience recoloring things (see: torghast cosmetics, other mounts). that there’s no way they didn’t know the “datamined ” s4 mount was too close to the season 2 mount.

Maybe they were seeing how far they could push the envelope. Same raids, same dungeons, same KSM mount?

How far can we stretch giving the players nothing and still having them come back for another season.

Think the gladiator mounts are also pretty non-unique from each other?

Gladiator mounts have always been recolours between seasons. Literally always, since the first day of PvP seasons back in TBC. Every expansion has a themed mount for PvP (for BC it was the Netherdrake, for WotLK it was the Frostwyrm etc) and every season they release a different coloured version of that same mount.

It isn’t a new thing, in fact it’s the norm and always has been.

If they want the Gladiator mount to be more “unqiue” and have more effort put into them, they also need to make them more accessible.

KSM is obtained by like, what, 15%-20% of the playerbase per patch?
Gladiator is well under 1%.
I haven’t checked the numbers in ages, but it’s a logistics thing.

Putting the effort in for practically nobody isn’t worth the development time for any company.

This is going to absolutely blow your mind OP.

They opened up the texture maps of the model in some sort of photoshop application, then they dragged the color RGB values to a new position and clicked “Save”

I know. It’s still pretty unbelievable they pulled this off in only a few days. Especially since we’ve been waiting 18 years for this same treatment for Moonkin form, but somehow Tad the unpaid intern found a way.
