for me my fun is derived from not carrying people in a pug. for me fun is having a smooth run when im pugging. so having a good source of info that literally measures performance is very useful.

yea not the literally thousands of transmogs, achievements, mounts, and world content…if m+ and raid are the only things worth pushing in your eyes then maybe your not a casual but you also arnt playing at a high enough level to be a “tryhard”
I saw a group posting yesterday saying they only accepted 95+ parses, then I looked up the leader spamming who had 30 parses
If your logs are hidden or have none, then you have to be pre-bis at least. If not = kick from group
If I’m building a group logs provide me 2 critical questions.
I’m sorry that it bothers you, but logs absolutely provide that data and that data is a measurement of success. I’m not interested in having someone cause wipes and waste time because they don’t understand a mechanic because they have never done the fight. I’m not interested in playing with someone who did less than auto attack damage as a dps player on fights.
Do the 95+ parses mean much? No not really. Most of those are hyper optimized group comps and strats which do not impact the success of a regular run.
Do sub 50 parses mean much? Absolutely. If you’re well below the median on a normalized curve then I should be concerned about whether you’re going to perform the dps I expect of you in the run to complete the fights smoothly.
The only role where parses are relatively meaningless is for healers. If the boss died then they did their job. A healing parse is a function of how bad the rest of their group was. The worse the dps players are, the higher the healing parse.
People dont play WoW for fun duh its all about logs and gigachad groups why would we try to enjoy a video game?!
I enjoy a game by not being bad at it how about you
it’s fun for you, it’s not fun for those who play with you.
That’s just normal behavior, the vast majority of AoTC groups in the retail LFG are like that.
This is why logs are important to avoid these scum bags.
Isn’t that reasonable, though? This is a video game, an escape. Not everyone is trying to develop their playing of this game as a skill.
And that’s fine, but you have to remember that people are different and you have to respect that people have differences.
The issue most people have including myself is the behavior from people making demands about groups, not that you’re actually playing worse than some of us.
Hiding your logs equals having no logs which equals to being gatekept just as if you had bad logs.
There is no winning for bad or mediocore players other than making their own groups or joining a guild.
When the whole group is trying to parse, this is ideal for the healer also, allowing them the chance to actually do something.
No, I exacerbated the original point made that it’s “just a game”.
Metrics used in the GOAT basketball conversation can be comparable to parses.
When I go to draft 9 players for a game, I want access to their stats.
This is why I put anyone who requests logs or parses on immediate ignore. I’d rather reverse discriminate against them than participate in the workification of a game.
and that is your right to do so. It is just the harsh reality you can not combat otherwise.
lol, you are isolating yourself from good players to be around with a bunch of bad players. You can never improve your gameplay with those, who only know whining
Not at all.
I am isolating myself from people who are insecure and demanding I forgo enjoyment for turning the game into a job. It has nothing to do with ‘good’ or ‘bad’ players.
There are plenty of good players who don’t feel the need to act like Jeff Bezos’ Amazon and stack rank everyone.
its the same spiel as it was with damage meters or gearscore all over again. People dont like being judged (or expposed) based on metrics that dont really state anything.
In a world where you BUY your bis set and “farm” logs I find it laughable that people demand logs as proof for excellence when these things can be owned by a donkey with amputated hooves.
I get that folks are looking for ways to evaluate potential allies trying to prevent loss of time but these things aint it. Cant really beat watching people in action. I d say I can tell on the very first pull in a dungeon if somebody knows what hes doing or not of if hes a teamplayer.
Qualities that are in shockingly short supply with people that join with 6.2+ GS and titles out the wahoo.
Personally I dont care about these things and if a raid or person demands logs or anything similar I simply keep watching and dont bother to begin with. But yeah…people will whine about these things.
It only becomes a job for you when you are in a group that struggles to get the content down. Or is wiping over and over again with people leaving the raid your version of “fun”?
It becomes a job the second something I do for fun, requires me to be ranked and scrutinized in order to continue to participate. I don’t play this game competitively.
Depends on the people I’m with. I’ve done groups that struggle bused and had fun being dorks about it, because they were fun to be around moreso than the need to minmax everything.
