You are in combat

No. I swear I’m not. You can’t prove that I am.

Being stuck in combat can be as simple as accidently aggroing a critter that never engages back in combat, a critter that almost no one has a name plate for, a critter that is over yonder flying around out of sight and out of mind that you can’t see or find or kill and are now stuck in combat with.

They really need to fix this combat bug, I’ve ran halfway across zones before being stuck in combat and just yeeted myself off a cliff because it’s the only way out.

I look at a mob and it’s all good until I attack.

A mob looks at me and apparently triggers my fight or flight immediately?

Happens all the time. Just run for a bit then kill a mob and it should clear itself.

Never had to do more than that.

Always gonna be in combat with that braid goin on.

One of the secrets not even the ex devs dared tell until 5 years after the game was out. They have a whole lot of invisible critters that should always die when you kill the actual visible creatures that they use these to carry out the “mechanics” so they dont lose relevance. (Like for example when you are so far the creature that attack you cannot be correctly kept, so they have an invisible creature that carry out the process).
However not always the actor is destroyed when the creature that spawned them is.
That is a flawed solution adopted by a lot of games at that time, that almost all of them have the same problem: Stuck in combat when you clearly are not.
No game using Unreal Engine or Unity suffers from that though.

This is actually a pretty known bug that Blizzard has been trying to resolve for quite some time now. I’ve experienced this particular bug myself at times while questing in the game world.

I’ll even use my invisibility spell to drop combat, But sometimes it will not as it should. Your best bet is to submit a Bug Report on the Bug Report Forum. When posting your report, Be sure to include what zone this is happening in, As it will help Quality Assurance in diagnosing the bug further.

I would also suggest posting there any spells you may have also used to try and get out of combat.

I wish you the best of luck!

This is why night elves are the best.

How is this still a problem nearly 20 years later?

If they haven’t fixed it by now, they won’t until the game gets an entirely new engine and they release WoW 2 or World of StarCraft.
