FFXIV players have known this for years, he’s been talking about it forever. He’s also been invited to Blizzard on multiple occasions and has got to see it all.
The lead composer, Soken is an avid OW player as well.
It’s literally just the WoW player base that is so backwards that thinks everything is “us vs. them” nonsense. The “anti-weeb” crusaders in the wow fanbase are such cringe. Like, you play a culturally appropriated “native american themed” cow person, and you’re upset about catgirls? Make it makes sense, bro. (sorry rant lol)
Meanwhile in FFXIV, we’re not able to access certain areas of the game due to over population from all the new players swarming the game, and Yoshida just gave us another letter from the producer explaining what they’re doing about it all.
This is in a lull period of the game, four months before an expansion release. Endwalker is going to be interesting lol. Thank goodness pokemon releases the same day as early access, will have something to do in the queue time.

I mean to each of their own, WoW was at its prime when a lot of memorable people was working at Blizzard like Morhaime, Ghostcrawler, Kaplan, etc. But now it’s just… Kotick, Hazzikostas, etc.
Yoshi is pretty humble and I really like that. Some asian people are humble. Something that I think people lack today.
