I might have considered those other races a bit more if they could do that stuff in shadow form… but having to swap out of shadowform to do so is a big deal.

Why would you be at a disadvantage? Because Dwarves have fear ward? A skill that is helpful in five raid encounters?

If you’re worried about raids. It’s going to come down how well you can play your healer. Not about if you have a skill or not. Most raid leaders will take a well played NE healer over a badly played Dwarf Healer.
So. I would recommend learning how to play the class. And if playing a NE Priest is what would do that for you. I say go all in and play that NE Priest.

Everyone keys in on Fear Ward, but the biggest PvP benefit to Dwarf is Stoneform. What other healer can get out of Blind?
However dwarves are not my cup of tea either.
It only counts if you roll a male one.

Go hooman. Spirit buff and a mana burn shield basically, oh and desperate prayer.
When they laugh at you just shadowmeld away and be like “now what?”

imagine if you play horde , poor guys wont make it past MC without fearward
So play a night elf priest and have fun mind controlling hordlings off tall cliffs.
Have fun getting turned down from raids for not being a dwarf priest.
Do it. Who cares.
If a raid turns someone down for not playing a certain race, then they aren’t in much need of a priest.

There is no disadvantage. Actually, you have a couple of advantages:
- You look good.
- You can Shadowmeld, Mind Control people off cliffs or into lava.
Beats Fear Ward, in my opinion.

I have a NE Priest named “Highelf”
Play whatever makes you happy I enjoy playing a human priest even though everyone wants me to play a dwarf. I can’t play a character that’s ugly …lol female dwarf makes my eyes bleed. If you want a Night Elf then go for it!

Long time Tauren player here. Fear Ward is unnecessary, any good tank can stance dance the fear. On some fights like Gluth the ranged/healers should be too far away, and the DPS can just LOS it at the door.
Onyxia only fears in phase 3. Decent raids should have her down before she can get a 3rd fear off reliably. She is the only boss that fears that has a somewhat short CD on it.
So out of all of the bosses, only 5 fear, one the melee can LOS, another you can simply burn faster. Realistically that is 3 bosses in the game that this crutch is even needed in PVE.
Play what you want. Playing something you don’t like is going to be a game breaker far worse than this nice to have buff.
