i want to play a night elf priest but obviously this puts me at a disadvantage
this insane thought just keeps on creeping up on me what do you all think?
I’m playing a Night Elf Priest.
The kind of people that will reject you purely based on that aren’t the kind of people you want to be grouping up with.
This is your 15$. If you will enjoy a night elf priest, then play one.
If you’re concerned about raids, then there will be dwarf priests to hand out fear wards. It won’t be a necessity for you.
Do your thing, most people dont actually care in the long run.
i think night elf priest is better in raid size pvp with their 10sec cd for (out of combat) invis. and you can better surprise people in BRD or near a cliff where you will fear than hypnotise them off.
I think starshards are also never worth using
yea cuz that’s just plain racism.
also im doing a NE priest as well.
Unless you plan to join Method, you can play whatever you want. You will be just fine and you will get into raids without many issues.
If you wanna be a Nelf do it.
Tell your tank to get good and stance dance fears and also it’s highly likely most of your other Priest will go Dwarf anyway.
Nelf won’t really help you in BGs but in world PVP getting stealth mind controls is hilarious.
good to know others are doing the same
Play it, you’ll still get invites whenever you want AND you won’t have to stare at a dwarf every time you log in, win-win
There will always be people who will try to shame others for not doing the meta or what they deem to be min max. Who cares? Ignore those 8 people. I guarantee you’ll have no problem getting groups, finding a guild or making friends. Just be you and do you best and others will appreciate it.
thats what im worried about most just have the elitist attitude and im thinking im going to have a hard time with pugs
This is actually a super strong choice in PvP, and is what I’m going with. Look at it this way, the biggest issue to a priest (at least shadow) is mana… so being able to fear, drop combat, sit and drink, then to hide yourself while you’re doing so with shadowmeld… is a HUGE deal. It allows us to potentially fill in the biggest vulnerability to shadow priests. Not only that, but guarding bases in a BG just to pop out and own a rogue is also nice… Nice for drinking in bgs because it again, gives you some protection while you do so since that’s the time you’re most vulnerable. Also allows you to afk without getting ganked, and gives you whispy form, so if you do die, you get back to your body quicker.
Going from there, there’s also starshards, which I swear is super undervalued by people who are short sighted. Starshards is a third school lock… so even if you get locked out of shadow, you can still do damage. Not only that, its range is 36 yards, so a lot further than mind flay. It also lasts 6 seconds compared to 3 seconds on mind flay, so if someone’s trying to LoS somewhere, you throw that channel off, and you chunk them from LoS. Also, unlike fearward / desperate prayer, you don’t have to leave shadowform to cast it.
I seriously consider it to be the strongest race for PvP for priests since it reinforces our weaknesses so thoroughly.
i never even thought about using those abilities like that my main focus will be pvp too so thanks for the info
Glad to help =)
You’ll still be able to do everything the others could do.
You really shouldn’t. I think a raid coordinator would value a punctual NE priest over a tardy and underperforming dwarf priest. And healers will always be a solid commodity.
Pugs should be fine, most people will just be glad to have a healer.
If you rolled on a PvP server and aren’t that great at PvP, popping invis potion and then smeld somewhere safe until the other player leaves might save you a bunch of times.
Play it.
In the end, the only opinion that truly matters is yours.
