Yikes, aggressive Mouse Cursor snapping bug is back

I’m just saying from my experience it was usually with an outdated addon that normally comes with a new patch. I simply just suggested that OP should try disabling all addons to see if it fixes it.

i have a corsair mouse a glaive and only have problem in the new patch i will be clicking and the cursor will disappear and end up at the top or middle of screen addons or no i suppose

Could those with this issue say if they are using a wireless mouse or is this happening with wired ones too?

definitely happening with wired mice.

Both wired and unwired yes

Unfortunately, finding any temporary solution might be quite rough. There will even be periods of time where it’ll be like, oh hey it hasn’t happened in a while, then snap cursor teleports. So nope. Issue is still occurring today.

To give an example, was messing around in Tazavesh learning keys today and went to swap to the prison on first boss. Very basic scenario, as soon as I go to click on the nameplate, I notice my cursor teleport as usual far off to the point that I have to physically pick up my mouse to readjust for a moment. Given that, it’s almost like being locked out for a couple GCDs from the bug, completely unpredictable.

That was also one of maybe two times it even occured today, which is rare. It’s usually far more than just twice in any session that it’ll happen from normal (not intentionally aiming to replicate) clicking alone.

Comes and goes, sometimes extremely aggressive over a short time period, almost like you don’t even have true control of your mouse over those spans of time. Other times, it’s as if it’s gone before you get hit with that snap.

If you can’t get into the mindset that it’s going to happen at any moment, you just about will be guaranteed to get frustrated over it and potentially to the point of moving on from the game to others. This scenario is just one, in combat, mouse is of course used extensively so a common one you’ll hear is someone clicking on a node or treasure and then it disappears after you attempt to re-orient your cursor

Another thing, for those who are possibly looking to train themselves to work around it, you cannot rely on reticule targeted abilities without an [@cursor] macro, to minimize clicks. You will 100% bomb spirit link totems, earthquakes, flamestrikes, you name it. Switching all reticule targeting abilities to @cursor might not be recommended or practiced in PvP in general but it will be much less debilitating, much more controllable than casting a spirit link out in the middle of nowhere away from your team when you needed it.

Again, this bug is very old. We have experience with it.

It’d probably be something very odd and out there if something were to truly work, something very new as well. The first time I got this bug was around 2 and a half to 3 years ago? Some time around BFA. But some reports go quite a bit farther back, across many different setups even barebones + the same individuals trying fully different setups.

Can’t remember exactly when, but around Shadowlands launch I could no longer repeatedly click+drag rapidly to reliably get the issue to occur, so it seemed resolved. It was around the same time cursors notably changed by default to not disappear the moment move/steer/right click or left click were held. Then 9.2 issues back again.

Finding small ways to minimize “clicks” (very little actual movement needed to trigger the problem) can only go so far before you realize you’re playing the game in a very debilitating way just to work around a bug. Truly something weird to get used to, but possible. Sadly it’s frustrating enough for some who get it that it outright causes them to move away from World of Warcraft.

400dpi? yeah, that’s an unacceptable request to ask of your customers. no offense. hopefully a typo.

still having this issue looks that there is no fix… :frowning:

I can confirm that this just started happening in 9.2. Glad I’m not alone, at least.

Still going on… truly epic

Zuvykree, can you confirm whether this is still being looked into?

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to chime in that we are still looking into this. I don’t have anything to add but figured I’d mention it since I see a few concerned this may fall off our radar. We’ve not seen any fixes or workarounds for this yet. Please keep the reports coming in-game and here if this is affecting you.

Thanks for the patience while this is sorted out.

I’m glad i seen this thread. i been having the same problem and i thought it was my OCD getting to me.

Happening randomly here. Wired Steel Series Rival 3 mouse. I do not use any add-ons. Sometimes it will seemingly go days without issue, sometimes it happens several times in a day. I can’t pinpoint a trigger.

Same issue here. Never had any issues and been playing lots since returning for Shadowlands. Been asking guildies and searching forums to no avail. It caused my death in a raid fight. (Went to click AMS to pass through the wall circles on Halondrus Heroic last phase and my cursor didn’t register the click and decided to jump across the screen. Noticed it a lot in Mythic plus runs as well. The mouse cursor just jumps to to either the middle of the screen or sometimes just vanishes.

Yea its here for me too i have a glaive rgb pro from corsair

as i don’t have this problem some mice do have a sliding switch that lets you change the DPI or Hz. my mouse is a E-Blue Gaming Mouse goes from 125Hz to 1000Hz. the slider on your mouse might be in DPI (if it has one) try increasing and see if it goes away

we will see i set it to 1000 dpi -)))

Still continuing, but noting here an extra detail that the snapping to where the cursor ends up has seemingly shifted toward the bottom half of the center of the screen (halfway-ish down Y axis). May be totally irrelevant but interesting since in the past it was either dead center or “teleporting” in the direction of movement.

This is still affecting my gameplay :frowning:
